30 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 30

I’m turning 21 next week! This may cause you to wonder why I’m going on about turning 30…

Yes, I realise it’s a long way off yet, but with my upcoming 21st birthday I am reminded that this will be my last ‘important’ birthday until I turn 30.

Of course you can debate this. I know all birthdays are special really, but in terms of landmark ages, I personally think it goes something like: 16, 18, 21, 30, 40, 50 etc. You may disagree. But I digress.

9 years from now, there are certainly things I would have hoped to achieve, and things that would be really freaking awesome if I managed to! Here’s a list of 30 things I’d love to do before my 30th:

1 | BE KNOWN FOR 1 OR 2 SPECIAL RECIPES
N knows I’m great at pasta bake, but I want the world to know!

2 | VISIT CHINA
Absolutely must do this. Top of my Wanderlist.

3 | OWN A HOUSE (completed in 2014!)
I’m lucky enough to have done this step early!

4 | GET RID OF UNNECESSARY THINGS
This will be hard, but minimalism is the ultimate calm IMO.

5 | ORGANISE AT LEAST 1 LARGE-ISH EVENT
I have some ideas for this already but who knows when I’ll ever pull it off!

6 | DESIGN/BUILD MY OWN HOUSE
Too many episodes of Grand Designs have led this to be my Ultimate Life Goal. Not sure before 30 is actually achievable though…

7 | HAVE A CHILD
I’d like to have children before the age of 30, but not for at least 5 years yet!

8 | HAVE A PUPPY (completd in 2014!)
Such fun, such mayhem. I love my Pepper, but never again!

9 | BE KNOWN FOR BEING GREAT AT A SPECIFIC SKILL
I’m not sure what yet, but I just want to be really really great at something.

10 | LEARN HOW TO USE A DRILL
I think this is a pretty important life skill to have, and I don’t yet have it

11 | OWN A MINI (completed in 2016!)
A Mini Cooper is my dream car. I don’t care what age or what type; I just love them. 

12 | GO SKYDIVING
I was hesitant to write this. Would I actually have the balls when it comes to the crunch?

13 | COMPLETE A FULL SCREENPLAY
I have several half-started screenplays floating around. I need to get my head down and actually finish one!

14 | LIVE ABROAD FOR A YEAR
I’m not saying forever, because I love Cornwall (obvs)! But I’d love to at least try it…

15 | BE SELF SUFFICIENT FROM MY OWN BUSINESS (completed in 2016!)
This will take time, but working for myself is a big dream.

16 | DO A PRESENTATION IN FRONT OF 100+ PEOPLE
I’ve done around 40, and it scared the crap outta me. 

17 | VISIT MONTENEGRO
Another top Wanderlist item. Montenegro looks stunning!

18 | TRY WHITE WATER RAFTING
Did this in Croatia and it was so much fun!

19 | HAVE A MASSAGE (completed in 2015!)
*Update: Crossed this off November 2015; ’twas pretty nice tbh!

20 | SEE COLDPLAY LIVE
Sad, I know. Hopefully sooner than later in case they break up!

21 | GO TO DISNEYLAND (completed in 2013!)
Both times were at Christmas and it was epic!

22 | GO TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
Yes please yes please yes please! Thinking about doing this in the next couple of years…

23 | BE ABLE TO TOUCH MY TOES WITHOUT BENDING MY KNEES
I have a shortened Achilles tendon, meaning I need to practice stretching for a couple of years to do this!

24 | GO TO PARIS (completed in 2013!)
I think Paris may be one of my favourite places ever. I’d love to go there in Spring also.

25 | BE HYPNOTISED
I NEED to do this! I am a skeptic but I’d love to try it for myself and truly believe…

26 | EAT BUGS
Not like, gross raw bugs. Fried tasty bugs that the world will be living off in a hundred years!

27 | DO SOMETHING CHARITABLE
This is vague AF. But seriously I’d love to do something that puts a stamp on the world.

28 | GET A TATTOO (completed in 2012!)
I love my Chinese calligraphy on my back. One day I may get another one, who knows.

29 | BUY A SOFA (completed in 2014!)
This kinda comes with buying a house, but yeah. Sofa shopping is the best kind of shopping!

30 | GET AN EPIC COLLECTION OF PHOTO ALBUMS DOCUMENTING MY LIFE
My mum’s always had a huge collection of photos under the bed, and I want that too!

 

As you may notice, I’ve included some things I’ve already achieved in this list too, partly for some self-satisfaction, and partly because I ran out of ideas half way through. I’ll try to keep coming back to this post and cross things out when they’re done!
