Remember this time last year when I mentioned we were renovating our shed?
Well I’ve finally got around to taking some after photos of the project – 8 months after we finished it! I was kind of waiting to put some artwork or photos up on the walls before I posted about it all here, but oh well – you can see it in all its naked glory instead…
But first! Let us reminisce about the spidery hell hole that once was…
As you can see, it was pretty gross, and altogether not a very useful space. Unless you like hanging out with rusty bits of metal and spiders the size of your hand.
The aim was to transform this ugly ugly duckling into a beautiful home office/study swan. Here are some photos of the project in action:
It took weeks to get all the sh*t out of this place; it was covered wall to wall in rusty metal racking and rotting wood, as well as the creepiest little toilet cubicle in the corner…
We replaced the rotting old wood door and metal frame windows with brand new double glazed ones (including a glass door to let the light in) and got to work insulating the concrete block walls.
During the insulation stage we also wired in electrics for the lights and plug sockets, as well as space for our washing machine & tumble dryer too.
This all happened slowly over the course of several months, but in around May this year it was complete! Behold, the After Photos:
Although the walls are still a little bare and it could maybe use a rug, it’s a darn sight better than the grim work shed it was before.
It even has a little loo and space for me to do the laundry, so it’s really the perfect addition to our home!
We’ve been enjoying spending our afternoons out here in a proper ‘work’ environment rather than just sat on the sofa; it definitely makes me more focused!
Yes we even have a little coffee machine out here to keep us going! We bought a Nescafe Dolce Gusto Krups Oblo* because of its compact-ness and slick design; it fits perfectly on our desks atop this awesome coffee pod tray* from Amazon to keep it neat and tidy.
I’m so glad we finally got our shed renovation finished and we’re both pretty pleased with the results! Now just to find some artwork for those blank white walls…
What do you think of our renovation project?
