In January 2015 I wrote a (private) list of resolutions for myself for various aspects of life.
I just looked at it, and I laughed out loud.
Seriously, I have not done any of what I said I’d do. Totally foreseeable, I know.
So I’m basically only writing this so that I can look back in 6 months time and have a bit of a laugh about how bloody useless I am…
2016 RESOLUTIONS
- Experiment with more vegan/veggie recipes
I previously moaned about how hard I’d find it to give up meat, but I’m determined to try and cut down at least a bit. I plan to try out some more animal-less recipes, but honestly it’s hard to find ones that aren’t full of bizarre and expensive ingredients. - Go swimming once a week
I wouldn’t say I’m unfit; I walk the dog twice a day and definitely get the recommended hour a day or whatever it is. But I’d like to tone up a little I suppose, and let’s face it, who doesn’t want an excuse to eat more pizza. - Use my kayaks more when the weather gets nice
Less for exercise reasons and more for fun! I love kayaking, and we only used our new inflatable kayaks a couple of times in the summer. Now they’re in the attic because the weather is horrid, but I can’t wait to get them out again! - Don’t neglect this blog!
Since I set up my design business, I’ve been focusing loads on that and really neglecting things over here. But no more. This blog has been the source of great opportunities and friendships over the last year, so I don’t want to let it fall to the wayside. - Teach Pepper to stop being so sassy
Little miss teenage dog over here is becoming a bit big for her boots. She’s started some really annoying attention seeking behaviours (ie, chewing the cushions on the sofa and ripping up the lawn) that I’d like to put an end to. - Make (& keep) more friends
I really suck at maintaining friendships, so I need to really work on nurturing those that I have. I’m also keen to connect with more like-minded people and awesome blogger/business women I find on the interweb too! - Go on a really nice holiday
In 2015 we went on a couple of long weekends and fun trips, but I’ve missed my sea and sun. Now that we’ve found a good place for Pepper to stay while we’re away, I’m looking forward to booking a longer trip for 2016! - Use my camera more
I love my camera and lenses dearly, but I always forget to take them with me when I’m out! It’s kinda bulky and heavy but I always find myself regretting not having it, and my iPhone pics always suck :( - Get rid of a load of stuff
I love a good Spring purge. I love been harsh AF and selling/donating unloved things that I don’t need. It is so satisfying to not be surrounded by clutter <3 - Post at least once a week on this blog and this one
Unless I am mistaken, I have blogged at least once a week, consistently, for the past year! Go me! I want to keep this up and make sure I stick to that on my business blog too.
I probably won’t stick to all of these. But I hope I do. There’s no harm in hoping, and by posting it here I’m more likely to hold myself accountable.
Now for some self-satisfaction.
2015 ACHIEVEMENTS
- Launched my business!
This time last year I literally had no concept that this would happen, and now here I am with a portfolio and paying clients. What the eff happened?? - Started and grew this blog
I started this blog back in January, expecting it to be one of those projects that I start and do for a month or two and then totally forget about. But again, here I am. As I said, this has created some great opportunities & friendships for me so I don’t plan on stopping! - Got central heating in our house
We survived last Winter with our hideous, crappy storage heaters but as of August (though it was supposed to be February… but that’s another story) we now have lovely warm central heating installed <3 - Got into the habit of walking Pepper every morning
I struggled with this to start with and would just wait until after work, but she really is a two-walk kinda dog, so I started the habit and so far I’ve kept it up for several months. - Taught Pepper some cool tricks and stuff
She now knows sit, down, stand, paw, dance, spin, crawl (we made this up), heel (sometimes) and rollover (she hates doing it but will if she has to). All of those, but not ‘come’. She will not come back, even for chicken and cheese. - Organised several Cornish blogger meetups
And I just keep finding more and more to invite! I love finding people with the same interests as me who are local – it’s great…* - Started a Facebook Group – Cornish Creatives
*… which is why I made this! It’s only small so far, but I’ve got some plans for future collaborations etc. Exciting!
Right, that’s definitely enough about me.
YES, a lovely list, and I’m pleased I *sort of* feature in your successes of 2015! Woo Cornish bloggers! :) I think your targets for 2016 are achievable, it’s all about getting into a habit! Alice xx

Thank you! And but of course you guys are :) it’s been a highlight meeting everyone!
Yes definitely about habits… Hopefully I can make habits like the dog walking as that seems to be working well! x
Those goals aren’t so outlandish, you may do better than you think!
Thanks Llinos! I hope so :) x
The aforementioned aims are not excessively ambitious; it is possible that your performance may exceed your expectations.
