Catching the Sunset on the Coast
The other evening I got really excited about the sunset.
This miserable Winter must have got to me more than I realised, because as soon as we were graced with clear, golden weather I raced out to the cliffs with my camera to capture it.
It was truly stunning. Pepper and I ran along the cliffs between Portreath and Godrevy to let off some steam, enjoying the view as we went.
This is one of my favourite stretches of coastline in Cornwall; it is seemingly endless, and goes on as far as the eye can see on clear days (like this one). I’ve never done the full coastal walk, but would love to accomplish it one day soon!
After our run, I stopped the car at Portreath on our way home to take some more photos with the sun disappearing behind the cliffs. The beach was suddenly swallowed in a deep pink/purple light, and the tide was right in so plenty of sea to… well, see.
Anyway, no real content to see here! Just a few photos from the best evening of my week that will hopefully brighten up yours.
I am so very jealous of where you live! I live in the South East of England on the Marshes and while they certainly hold their own unique beauty and charm, it’s not quite Cornwall. The plan is to buy a little holiday home down there when my pennies are feeling optimistic, it would be lovely to have family and friends escape down there to blow out the cobwebs and explore.
Having said that, the sunsets we get here are breathtaking and I’m very lucky to live in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields, with no neighbors to intrude on sun gazing or over hear my crooning along to music. My front room overlooks our farm fields and is dotted with trees along boundaries which create amazing long shadows during the summer evenings. My favourite place to watch this is on our decking, tea in hand and snuggled into a fleecy blanket on big pillows…… Can’t wait for Summer!

Um, your home sounds amazing! There is nothing I’d love more than a home in the countryside with fields and trees – very jealous! My actual current home is on a main road, but I can’t complain too much when I’m within 5 minutes drive of the photos above haha.

Those gorse photos are so pretty! I love gorse trees, I used to eat the yellow flowers all the time when I was little!
I only learnt a few months ago on that foraging course that you can eat them!! Now I love randomly snacking on them :) xx
I don’t know why we used to eat them – I don’t think we knew they were edible and they were only ever so slightly sweet at the tip. We also used to eat honeysuckle flowers. Cornish kids are weird like that though!
