Coastal Living with #BarbourLife

Collaborating with a brand like Barbour is a bit of a dream-come-true, I must admit!

When they got in touch asking if I’d like to be featured in a Q&A on their #BarbourLife blog, I couldn’t quite believe it.

Synonymous with British-ness, country lifestyle and quality, I’ve known friends with beautiful Barbour jackets but never owned a piece myself, so I was very excited to try on a full outfit from their Coastal Collection! Needless to say, this jacket is my new favourite thing…

I instantly got in touch with Olivia about the feature, and asked her very nicely if she would mind helping me take some photos for me to go alongside the Q&A on the Barbour blog, wearing the outfit. I didn’t have to ask twice!

We organised a day to shoot during our ‘heat wave’ this month – a very warm (22 degree!) Wednesday – and decided to head to the North coast, around the dunes of Hayle beach and Gwithian.

What we didn’t anticipate was how windy it was going to be that day!! Honestly, we were both bent double in the wind on Hayle beach. Trying to keep the dogs entertained while not letting our stuff blow away and trying to keep the sand out of our eyes was not an easy feat!

The pups behaved themselves though. Barbour kindly sent Pepper this beautiful dog jacket (I can’t wait for her to wear this more in Autumn!) and a very smart tartan collar, which Pepper has kindly donated to Queen Maizy seeing as it fits her so well.

They had loads of fun running around the beach, and whilst we did end up with some good photos from Hayle in the end (Olivia working her magic as always), at the time the windy chaos was just too much, so we packed up, dropped the dogs off home, and headed back down to the bay – but this time in the shelter of Gwithian towans.

It was still extremely windy, but much better than on the beach. Hence my hair being a crazy mess in most of these pics; but I am so happy with how they turned out, regardless. And even more happy that Barbour have now featured them on their website too!

Doing this shoot, despite the wind, had me feeling all kinds of summery. It was partly the sunshine, but partly the vibe of the Coastal Collection as well – it’s exactly the kind of thing I can imagine wearing on a warm Spring day or cool Summer morning, running around with the dogs on the beach (yes, the jeans are super stretchy and comfortable – I’m in love!), or a walk along the coast path.
