I get a bit snap-happy when Pepper’s around, and where better to publish a bazillion snaps of her beautiful squishy face than here?
Anywhere’s better than my Facebook feed right now, folks. I get the feeling all my friends are getting annoyed…
So I’ll just annoy you instead :) Here are some of my smush’s favourite things:
1 | Food magically appearing from within a ball
What is better than a ball in Pepper’s mind? A ball with food inside it!!
This treat dispensing ball* is a great way to tire her out a bit as it requires some mental stimulation. It also helps to stop her gobbling her food too fast as it’s released slowly as she plays.
2 | A ball magically appearing from within a sock
We literally discovered this trick this week, and it’s Pepper’s new favourite thing in the world. Who needs fancy £10 toys that last 5 minutes anymore? All you really need is an old sock and tennis ball. Sorted!
3 | Giving paw for tasty treats
I was sent these treats and food by Pooch & Mutt to try out with Pepper, and so far (as you can see from the photo above), she is loving these tasty treats!
I’m personally loving the ethos behind Pooch & Mutt’s brand; everything is grain-free, handmade with ingredients from the UK, and ethical. They also have lots of different treat and food blends to try that can be focused on your dog’s needs (eg, healthy digestion, healthy bones and joints etc).
The Health & Digestion food* includes 45% ethically sourced Scottish salmon and is a perfect food for active dogs (eg. Pepper!) and can help with food intolerances/sensitive digestion.
4 | Going to the beach and getting sandy AF
There’s nothing this pup loves more than a good run around on the beach, and surprisingly (even though she can’t actually swim and she hates baths), she loves getting soaking wet and sandy in the ocean.
This is one of the many reasons why Cornwall is just a great place to have a dog!
5 | Sitting for tasty treats
Pepper learned the sit command pretty quickly, and now she does it all the time – it’s great! If you’re holding a treat in your hand, you may also catch her waving a paw at you too, because she’s just so keen.
^ She was getting kind of bored of all the photos at this point…
6 | Sleeping in weird positions
‘The Leg Gap’ is a classic position for Pepper every evening and also most of the day (N and I work from home). It gives me cramp and dead legs, but it’s worth it for this adorable face!
7 | Lying down for treats
One of Pepper’s best ‘tricks’ is her Wait command. You can tell her to ‘wait’ and she’ll stay there no matter what you do (especially if treats are involved).
8 | Doing basically anything for treats (but nothing for no treats)
Generally Pepper will do anything for good treats like these ones* from Pooch and Mutt. Except ‘Come’. She is stubborn as Hell and if she’s got her eye on another dog to play with or a stick, she won’t care if you’re wielding a 12oz steak.
*Indicates affiliate links, plus as mentioned above, Pooch & Mutt sent these to me for free; but please know I would never recommend anything here if Pepper and I didn’t use & love it ourselves! Pepper is now permanently on the Pooch & Mutt food as it has seriously helped her digestion!
I hope you thoroughly enjoyed this uncalled-for assault of dog photos :)
(This is what happens when it rains all weekend in Cornwall)
