Beach Days, Weddings & Festivals (Friday Faves #24)

These three things are what Summer is all about, right?

Without mentioning the scary fact that June has basically almost been and gone (*weep*), I wanted to give a shout out to the great weather it has brought us over the past few weeks. Cheers June, you legend!

Summer has well and truly arrived, and with that of course comes the Cornish sunshine traditions such as days spent at the beach, sunny countryside weddings and festivals. I’ve had a month of it!

1. Em & Ash’s wedding at Trevenna Barns

This weekend just gone (yes, the ridiculously hot 26 degrees one!), the lovely Emma and Ash got married at Trevenna Barns near Liskeard and it was the most perfect day ever! It was such a chilled, relaxed day, and (thanks to Em’s meticulous planning) everything pulled off perfectly, from bridesmaids dresses to table decorations and floral arrangements. I was so honoured to be a bridesmaid and I can’t wait to see the rest of the photos!

2. Reduce the ‘Have-To’s’ in your life

I loved this article on Five Ways to Reduce the Have To’s in Your Life by No Sidebar this month; learning to be firm and ruthless with random obligations was something I started getting into when I read Sarah Kight’s ‘The Life-changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k’, and it’s definitely something I’d encourage everyone to do!

3. The Great Estate Festival at Scorrier House

I mentioned that I was going to this with Alice in my Festivals in Cornwall This Summer post, as it featured some great bands such as Electric Swing Circus, Dr Meaker, Echo & The Bunnymen and Craig Charles. The weather was perfect and the vibe was super chilled for the whole weekend, even though this tiny new festival ended up bringing over 13,000 visitors! It was a huge success and they’re already selling ‘Crack of Dawn’ tickets for next year. Hopefully I’ll be sober enough to remember next year’s Saturday night a bit better…oops!

4. The Handmaid’s Tale on Channel 4

I’m a little bit obsessed with dystopian dramas and thrillers, so when I finished the book about a month ago I couldn’t wait to see the drama series they’d made of it in the US. Luckily, Channel 4 have brought it over to us in the UK and I’ve been really enjoying it. They’ve captured it so closely to how I imagined it and I love the whole style they’ve gone with – definitely worth a watch if you’ve read the book! If you haven’t, it probably won’t make any sense, so go and read the book first.

5. Sea swimming

Yay for making the most of the incredible weather at the beach and actually going in the water! I’ve been in twice this week before the colder weather came in yesterday, and it’s been magical. I even went in without a wetsuit on Tuesday at Portreath with my sister! Can’t remember the last time I’ve done that in the Atlantic…

6. A healthy lunch cheatsheet

I thought this guide/infographic on creating the perfect salad lunchbox from A Pair and a Spare was perfect! It’s exactly what I need and I almost want to print it out and stick it on my fridge to motivate me to create some more interesting lunch combination.
