Breakfast in Truro

Best Breakfast / Brunch Spots in Truro

Cornwall’s capital of Truro is my hometown and if there’s one thing that’s important to know about your hometown, it’s where the best places for brunch are!

Whether you’re a fan of a full English, or prefer something sweet, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, am I right? There is nothing better than starting the weekend out with a Saturday brunch somewhere cosy.

Below is a list of my favourite places to visit in Truro for a good old fry up or perfect pancakes!

The Thomas Daniell

The Thomas Daniell is a restaurant and bar at the top of Lemon Street, serving lunch, evening, Sunday roast, and brunch menus throughout the week. We visited for breakfast last month on a Sunday morning, and even brought the dogs with us too! Alex had a full English which he thoroughly enjoyed, while I went for their french toast with berries which was incredible.

(Please note, I think they have currently stopped serving breakfasts due to staff shortages – thanks COVID! – but hopefully will start up again soon)

The Alverton Hotel

The Alverton is a beautiful grade II listed manor hotel on the edge of Truro’s centre, with an AA Rosette restaurant serving the biggest range of brunch / breakfast options in the city. It’s open to guests and non-guests, so I’d definitely recommend heading here for amazing quality food and great service.

Bread & Butter

If you’re into mouth-watering pancakes and sumptuous smoothies, you have to head to Bread & Butter! This cute little cafe has a little courtyard out the back with beautifully decorated booths, and are dog friendly too. The pancakes were super tasty, and I definitely need to go back and try their lunches now!

Longstore Truro

I recently featured The Longstore on the blog as my favourite restaurant in the whole of Truro, so of course we had to go and try out their Saturday breakfast menu too! Interestingly on a Saturday morning (from 10am), you can go in and order a breakfast OR anything from their lunch menu as well! That means you could have steak for breakfast, if you so wish. They also offer cocktails at this time as well, so if you’re looking for a ‘bottomless-style’ brunch to start the day, this is the spot for you.
