Truro is Cornwall’s capital city, and even though it’s pretty small as cities go, there are plenty of cute cafes & coffee shops to relax in!
As a self employed person I’m very lucky to be able to work from home most of the time, but occasionally it’s nice to escape the house and work from a new and different location. Recently I’ve been on a mission to visit lots of different local coffee shops to work in, so I’ve tried lots of new ones over the last few months!
Truro is also my nearest town, so I’ve been able to try lots of great cafes and coffee spots throughout the years when meeting up with friends too, so I wanted to share some of my favourites in this city!
I also have blog posts all about the best breakfast and brunch spots in Truro, and the best restaurants in Truro as well if you’re interested in other types of eateries…
Best cafes / coffee shops to work in:
108 Coffee
108 Coffee is located on Kenwyn Street and is definitely known as one of the best coffee spots locally for remote working! The coffee itself is great quality, plus they serve a range of baked goods and simple food options too, but the wifi and friendly staff (and the fact that everyone in there usually has a laptop!) make it a super friendly place for bringing your work.

Lily’s of Truro Cafe
Lily’s is at the very top of Pydar Street and is also a well known space for working with a laptop, although it does get quite busy! They serve Yallah coffee (my fave brand!) and lots of other tasty treats – and dogs are very welcome too which is great.

Best cafes / coffee shops for a meet up/date:
Bread & Butter
I love the pancakes at Bread & Butter (based on River Street) and their cute garden huts to shelter in outside. It’s a really unique little space so great for meeting with friends or for a date, plus you can bring the dogs too.

Lawrance’s
Lawrance’s is on New Bridge Street in Truro and is very ‘Instagrammable’ inside thanks to its fun decor! They’re well known for ‘cake and cocktails’ (and cake flavoured cocktails!) but also do a great coffee as well. You definitely have to try their cakes as Lucy is a great baker!

Best cafes / coffee shops for a takeaway:
Sabzi Deli
Another for if you love great salads and raw/vegan/veggie food, Sabzi offers delicious takeaway options (and coffee of course!) and is based in Walsingham Place.

Best cafes /coffee shops for vegan food:
The Cornish Vegan
This is Truro’s only 100% vegan restaurant, and does some amazing meat alternative dishes like ‘Ch’ckn in a Bun’ and their ‘Hot Reuban’ seitan sandwich. SO tasty, whether you’re fully vegan or not!

Pollen
Pollen is on Kenwyn Street and is a great place to try a coffee with a twist. Try their turmeric, chair or rose lattes for something really unique! They also sell a range of smoothies, and raw/vegan/veggie food options too.
