The Best Dog Kennels, Boarding & Day Care in Cornwall

Finding the right place to trust to take care of your beloved dogs can be a struggle! So I wanted to share a few recommendations for kennels and dog day cares to try in Cornwall.

Although I share plenty of dog friendly stays and activities here on the blog, sometimes it’s just not possible to bring your four-legged friend with you on holiday to Cornwall, in which case you might want to look into somewhere nearby for them to stay. Or if you’re a Cornish local, perhaps you’re heading out of county or struggling with a busy schedule, and need to know the best places for your pooch.

I don’t know about you but I am quite fussy about where I feel comfortable leaving my dogs; we of course want them to get all the attention, fuss and love they deserve when we’re away! When I got Pepper as a puppy, it took me a few ‘trial and errors’ to source the best places, so I wanted to share these in a post here, alongside some that have come highly recommended from friends as well.

No traditional kennels or cages in sight for this list!!

Dog Day Care

Doggy Day Care Cornwall (St. Erth)

I’ve talked before on the blog about Doggy Day Care Cornwall as we used to take Pepper here all the time! The team are so professional and the site is huge with lots of fun outdoor activities for the dogs. On-site you’ll also find a pet shop with fresh coffee, exercise fields, and picnic area too. They have membership plans available for regular visitors, and I honestly can’t recommend enough :)

Oggy Doggy Day Care (Carnon Downs)

I live just down the road from Oggy Doggy Day Care, and while I haven’t used them myself before, I’ve heard lovely reviews so thought it would be rude not to mention! Plus it’s a very handy location for anyone in the Truro/Falmouth area. Dogs here have free access to a cosy day room with wood burner and an outdoor adventure park all day long, with lots of attention given throughout too.

Dog Walking & Let Out Services

Sarah’s Doggie Day Care (Falmouth)

This is another one I haven’t personally used but have heard great things about! Sarah has a large team of dog walkers available for home visits, ‘stay & play’ and ‘let out’ services, and individual or group dog walking. A great option for Cornish locals who need to be out or at work during the day and need help looking after their pups.

Home Boarding & Day Care

Cornwall’s Hound Retreat (St. Allen)

I actually visited Cornwall’s Hound Retreat back in 2016 to discuss helping them with their website, and was so impressed by the set up that it’s always stuck in my mind as somewhere I would definitely send Pepper and Maizy if needed! Georgia is lovely and this feels like a real home away from home for the dogs, with loads of countryside to explore on regular walks throughout their stay. This is also a handy location for anyone in the Newquay area!

Paws And Play (St. Austell)

I’ve not personally used Paws And Play but this has come as another ‘home from home’ dog boarding recommendation with access to a family home and large garden, and again in a helpful location for if you’re in the St Austell or Roseland area of Cornwall.

Luxury Dog Kennels

Canine Country Club (Nr. Bude)

Dubbed the ‘Cornwall’s Luxury Dog Hotel’, Pepper has stayed at the Canine Country Club a couple of times and absolutely loved it! Each dog has their own ‘suite’ with underfloor heating, and either direct access to their own garden room or views out over the countryside (no looking out at corridors with other dogs, which some can find stressful). Dogs get 2-3 walks a day, play sessions out on the expansive fields and lots of love. Plus what makes this place really unique is their dedicated ‘hydrotherapy pool’, and qualified rehabilitation hydrotherapists who can help if your dog has certain conditions, or you can add a ‘Fun Swim’ session onto your boarding package for your pup.

We are very lucky nowadays to have friends & family who can help us with looking after the dogs when need be, but it’s also great to have a list like this of personal recommendations and good quality options that don’t involve stressful cages for our pooches – just love!

I hope your pups have the best holidays!

  1. Hi there, My name is David and I would like to get a quote for my dog bella for a month.  I know its a long time but both people who were going to help out have had to cancel.  The dates are the 14th of december until 15th of Jan.

Bella is a border collie and has stayed with you before.  She is a very active and intelligent dog.  She doesn’t particularly get on with other dogs.  My main concern is she is quite needy and needs a lot of exercise.

Would be great if you could get back to me asap

    Thanks
    Dave
