How long can you make the title of a blog post before it becomes ridiculous?
I’m yet to find out. My SEO plugin certainly isn’t happy about it, but to Hell with that!
Since I’ve started doing these posts a bit more regularly, I’m noticing how quickly two weeks comes around; like jeez where is life going right now. At least writing this up each fortnight makes me know that I have actually done something over the past 14 days – even if it is just that I’ve read too many blogs…
1. New business cards!
Moo.com were having a sale, so naturally I got in there and treated myself to some beautiful new blog business cards (my old ones were rather outdated). I <3 that you can have different backgrounds for each card – much fun!
2. Hannah’s awesome list of things to look forward to
I mentioned a few weeks ago in a post that I’m someone who needs to constantly have things lined up to look forward to, so this post was perfect! I love Hannah’s ideas, and it’s prompted me to get planning.
3. Having time to work on ‘growth projects’
To mark the 1st of August, Cornwall has been pissing it down with rain all week – which normally would make me cross and sad but actually I’m kind of enjoying being forced to stay inside and work. It also helps that this week I’m on a break from projects so I’ve got some much-needed downtime to work on some other project that I’ve been putting off for months!
4. These blogging lessons by Ashley that are spot on
I whole-heartedly agree with what Ashley from Nose Graze has written here – and I love that she’s mentioned the redesigning thing… I too am a brand/website designer, so I always have the urge to redesign everything, and maybe that’s okay?
5. Material bras – where have you been all my life??
Thanks to a H&M shopping trip with Olivia, I am now officially a material bra convert. It’s the ultimate comfort, and I’m just upset that I’ve lived for so long without them!
6. That Tony Robbins documentary on Netflix
As a massive skeptic, I thought I’d watch this documentary and have a good laugh at crazy American people being duped by life coach culture. I was pretty wrong in my preconceptions (although I stand by the crazy Americans part) and I think Mr Robbins could be much more genuine that I’d originally thought.
It was an interesting watch; especially for someone very interested in hypnosis and subliminal persuasion. No matter what his techniques, it’s harmless, and he obviously helps 100s of seriously damaged people each year, which can only be a good thing!
7. Reasons to never use the word ‘very’ again
I couldn’t live without my beloved thesaurus for this very reason (hmm, what’s the alternative to that use of ‘very’?). I often get into the rut of using the same words and descriptors over and over, so it’s fun to try and remember infographics like this one.
PS. I just got really distracted by a TV advert with a bacon sandwich in it, and now I’ve just realised that there’s no bacon in the house and why the heck did I decide to cut down on meat and WHAT IS LIFE WITHOUT BACON?!
What were your faves and non-faves of this fortnight?
