While a small part of me is freaking out that it is December tomorrow, I’m also looking back fondly at a great month!
This November, we’ve done a LOT! We kicked off with an evening out in Truro saying goodbye to a friend who’s gone travelling, an amazing experience at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent, and a road trip up to the beautiful city of York to see my sister, followed by visiting my cousin (and her adorable puppy!) in Watford and then Alex’s sister in London.
THEN we headed off to Egypt for a week, before returning home hitting the ground running with heaps of work, Alex’s sister visiting with her friend, and an amazing sushi cookery day course too. PHEW!
The Cove in Maenporth
When Alex’s sister and her friend came down last weekend, we wanted to show off the best of Cornwall’s delicious sea-food scene by going to one of Alex’s favourite restaurants – The Cove in Maenporth.
I’d never actually been before, though countless people have recommended I visit, and I was not disappointed. The food was delicious (I chose the crispy prawns for starter, followed by the seafood trio for main course) and the location is absolutely stunning too.
Egypt
Visiting Egypt was a mixed-bag. We booked a lounge-by-the-pool-for-a-week trip that was fairly cheap, just so we could get away and get some sun, and we’d hoped to be able to work while we were there.
However, while the hotel claimed to have ‘free wifi’ throughout, it wasn’t fit for purpose at all – with hours of no connection followed by 30 minutes of painfully slow service. To be fair, I know not many people book a sunshine holiday and expect to be able to work, but we booked that hotel specifically for wifi capabilities… oh well – we will definitely do more research next time!
Other than that, the hotel wasn’t all we’d hoped it would be, but it was HOT, and we did have a lovely time relaxing by the pool and swimming in the (amazingly warm!) Red Sea. We also headed out into the desert for a day of quad biking, spider car driving, off-road Jeep-ing and seeing a Bedouin camp with camels!
I spent most of the week without my camera by my side at all, and barely took any photos… which is just as well as I managed to delete them all by accident when we got home anyway! Below are a few I took on my phone…
One Year with Alex
While we were away, Alex and I celebrated one year of being ‘officially’ together! It’s crazy how fast that time has gone, whilst also feeling like we’ve known each other forever. We are both so similar and do literally everything together, and have a big friend group all together as well – he is the happiest, kindest, funniest person I know I honestly feel so lucky to have found him.
Bloomtown candles
Oh my gosh, I am obsessed with these new candles by Bloomtown! They’ve just brought out these two festive scents out for Christmas and I love both of them. Bloomtown’s candles are made from natural coconut and soy wax, using lead-free wicks, so the burn is super clean. ‘Nice’ is my fave!
Remember Bloomtown make the most wonderful vegan and palm-oil free skincare products and gifts – perfect for Christmas presents – so don’t forget to use my 20% off code: ANNA20!*
Amazon kindle
I recently invested in an Amazon Kindle*, after being super jealous of Olivia’s when we were travelling to Geneva. It’s so lightweight and a million times better than trying to travel with multiple books – it’s so small it fits in a tiny handbag!
I was worried I would find it weird reading from a screen, but it’s not really like a screen at all (nothing like a phone or computer!). You get used to it so quickly and it’s so much easier when you’re sat on a plane, or lying on a sunbed, because you only need one hand to hold it up (or you can even prop it up), rather than using two hands to keep pages apart.
It makes buying books slightly cheaper too, which is always a plus! You can grab one from Amazon for £59.99*, and I can already see that it’s going to be worth it for me when travelling.
Getting back to HIIT
After losing our exercise track record recently, Alex and I have been slowly easing ourselves back into it once we got back from our trips. We even went for a 4k run in Egypt and fitted in a gym session too!
We’ve been going to Fitness Wild at Argal Lake and really enjoying it… as much as you can really ‘enjoy’ HIIT sessions.
What have been your highlights of November?
