Imagine finishing a busy week with a deep, relaxing massage without even having to leave the comfort of your own home.
That’s exactly what I did last Friday, thanks to a visit from Home Spa Cornwall. I’ve never had any kind of spa treatments from home – bar the little mud face masks you mix up as a kid and pop cucumbers on your eyes with your friends for fun. I mean, I’ve never had a professional therapist visit me at my home before, rather than visiting a salon, spa or hotel.
Honestly I’d never even considered it or realised it was a thing before, but after taking a look a the Home Spa Cornwall website and speaking to owner, Emslie, I was really excited to try it out.
I booked in for a 60 minute deep tissue massage, and Emslie organised one of her team of local therapists (Lucy) to come over on Friday after work. Home Spa Cornwall have 7 therapists who travel throughout Cornwall delivering treatments to you home; they are all very experienced and professional, and Emslie even offers her own training programmes for those wanting to become a therapist too.
My massage by Lucy was a total dream; 60 minutes of intense focus on my back and shoulders (you can tailor your massage to suit your body needs) which left me feeling completely relaxed. Below are some other reasons why having a treatment from home is something I’d recommend to everyone:
No need to travel or plan around travel times
If you’re unable to drive or get transport to a nearby salon or spa, obviously this is a fantastic option which means you can still get all the treatments you want – including massage, facials, reflexology, as well as manicures, pedicures, waxing, eye treatments and more.
It also means that if you’re short on time (maybe you can only get a 40 minute break from the kids!), you don’t have to factor any travel time into your treatment – only the treatment time itself.
Slip straight into PJs and get snuggly immediately afterwards
Getting dressed after my massage, I was able to dress straight into my loungewear (although PJs would have been an even better idea) and go straight into my living room to snuggle up for the evening.
Of course, it depends what time of day your treatment is (and what kind of treatment you’re having), but being able to go straight into ‘comfort mode’ felt amazing. When you’re at a salon or a spa, you feel super chilled immediately afterwards, but a stressful car journey home can undo all of those zen vibes.
Add another level of relaxation to your holiday
Staying in Cornwall for the week or weekend? If you’ve gone self catering, never fear! You can still have all the luxuries of staying in a spa hotel by booking a mobile therapist to come to your holiday home, cottage or lodge. I love this idea as it really adds to the overall ‘getaway’ feeling of your stay.
No one else will see your ‘fresh face’ or massage hair 🙊
Facials and head massages are great, but they can sometimes leave you looking a little red faced, makeup free and greasy haired! Having your treatment from home means you don’t have to worry about anyone seeing you as you dash back to the car or travel home (especially important if you’re using public transport).
Bring friends together for a super chilled catch up or party
Got an engagement party, birthday or girly get together coming up? Booking in for group treatments is a great way to have a spa party on your own terms. Meaning you can eat what you want, decorate how you want, and not worry about other people bothering you (or your group bothering other people!) in public.
I’m now totally sold on the mobile massage & beauty treatments idea. It felt like the ultimate luxury and the team at Home Spa Cornwall are brilliant as well.
