January Favourites

Insta-Goals, Loungewear and Chill | January Favourites

I haven’t done a favourites post in forever! But I’m keen to share some things I’ve been loving this month…

It’s been a busy one to say the least! Since getting back from our very snowy skiing trip, I’ve had tonnes of work to get on with for catching up after Christmas as well as doing a big sort out of my house as well. PLUS it’s tax return month, so that’s prompted me to go through my accounts and try to organise myself so I don’t get into another big panic come April…

But there have been some good things too!

1. FINALLY the microbead ban!

YES, finally the UK have implemented a ban on plastic microbeads found in cosmetics, toothpastes and skincare this month. Manufacturing with microbeads is officially no longer allowed, and the sale of products containing them will be illegal come July.

2. The ‘Display Purposes’ site + hitting 3k on Insta

Olivia recently introduced me to this Instagram hashtag generating website, and I’ve been using it since to add relevant hashtags to my posts! I’ve created it as a homescreen thumbnail on my phone for convenience (open the website in Safari, press the ‘share’ icon on the bottom bar and select ‘Add to Homescreen). Also, this month I finally hit 3,000 followers on Insta too – wahoo!

3. Loungewear from the FatFace January sale

Lord knows I may have got a bit carried away in the January sales this year, but one of my favourite buys has to be these amazingly comfy pj bottoms/joggers from FatFace. They’re ridiculously soft and I’ve been wearing them around the house basically every day!

4. The Chill Tracks playlist on Spotify

I love having instrumental music playing quietly while I work, and one of my favourite playlists for that at the moment has been Chill Tracks on Spotify. I wouldn’t say it’s super ‘relaxing’; the tracks do have a bit of a beat and there’s some chilled trance in there but personally I think I prefer that as it makes me feel productive rather than sleepy!

5. Getting back to exercise

After not exercising for basically a month for various reasons (including Christmas, skiing trips and illnesses), it was so nice to get back into my HIIT class routine last week. This week I hope to add another exercise in there too – I may be joining a new gym and trying more running!

6. Booking our Hideout accommodation & flights!

Back in November, we ended up spontaneously booking tickets to Hideout – a festival in Croatia that I’ve been wanting to go to for ages, and this month we finally booked our flights and accommodation for the trip too. I am beyond excited – it’s going to be an incredible experience!

7. ‘The End of the F**king World’ on Netflix

On Sunday, I decided to start watching this Netflix original series whilst curled up on the sofa nursing a hangover, and I couldn’t stop! I finished the whole thing that evening and it was bloody brilliant. Super dark and quirky and exactly my humour, it follows a teenage boy who thinks he might be a psychopath and his ‘girlfriend’ as they run away from home and get into trouble. It’s like a teenage Natural Born Killers meets quirky British Channel 4 drama – LOVED IT!
