Since hearing my friends talk about Potager Garden time and time again, I new I had to add it to my ‘to-visit’ list this Summer.
Nestled in the countryside just outside Constantine, Potager Garden is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon, with beautiful maintained vegetable and flower gardens to explore, hammocks to lounge in, games to play, and a delicious cafe serving the tastiest home made food!
This Sunday, my dad and I met here for lunch and a wander around. Commenting on the amazing plants and flowers, and stunning Cornish stone walls along the way, we headed to greenhouse cafe for a bite to eat.
The menu offers tempting breakfast options, homemade cakes, and the tastiest salads and soups along with whatever seasonal options are on the specials board! This particular day, I ordered the mezze (beetroot & carrot salad, homemade hummus, bread & oils and more) and my dad ordered the frittata (which tasted great also!). It was pretty filling, so sadly I couldn’t fit in a cake afterwards but would love to come back and give those a try.
The gardens are laid out in individual areas to create unique spaces to spend time in; the lounge/hammock area is obviously a favourite, and (if I lived closer!) I could easily spend an afternoon sat there with a book.
Then there’s a deck chair lawn, a second greenhouse with more tables and a table tennis set, a badminton lawn, and a vegetable garden where they source much of the produce used in the cafe.
Also dotted around are quaint artist studios and cabins, currently occupied by local artists; from sculptural garden furniture and metal work, to wood turning and oil painting.
This really is such a quaint place and again if I lived nearer I’d love to visit more often; the food was delicious and I can imagine many a sunny afternoon spent here place boules or badminton with friends in the sun.
The cafe hosts events and workshops throughout the Summer, with this year’s focus being Botanical Illustration, which I think would be really interesting to take part in! But regardless, I’d recommend a visit for some lunch or coffee & cake just for fun.

This is my new favourite place, and also… I love those boots! Why have I never seen them before? Too cute <3
I love seeing everyone’s own depiction of Potager, it’s such a magical place and their food is incredible. Totally worth trying the icecream and cake in the summer, it’s beaut!! Alice xxx

Thanks for the tip off!
We popped in for a coffee one rainy day and ended up staying for a delicious lunch. I can see that on a sunny day it would be easy to linger in the garden, falling asleep in a hammock or deck chair while pretending to read a book.
