If you’re looking for a luxury hotel stay in Cornwall with sea views, incredible food and a sumptuous spa experience, Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa is my new favourite!
That’s a big claim, I know! But totally justified, as the overall experience we had on our recent trip to Fistral Beach Hotel was just fantastic, including the service – which was also excellent throughout our stay.
As I’m writing this and looking at the photos, I’m already wishing I was back there!
The Location: Fistral Beach & Pentire Headland
Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa is located on the south side of Fistral beach, on the Pentire headland in Newquay. I personally love this little area of Newquay, as it feels removed enough from the craziness of the town, but close enough to be able to easily access the beach and walk to town if you need. Plus, if you walk around the headland, you get stunning views of the Gannel estuary and Crantock Bay as well!
If you fancy doing more exploring during your trip, there are loads of beautiful beaches around Newquay all within a 10 minute drive, and so many great eateries and things to do in town as well.
The Hotel itself is set back on the road facing directly out to the sea and Fistral Beach, where you can watch beach-goers relaxing on the sand or surfers catching waves (or catch some yourself with just a couple minutes walk!).
I went on a little nosey around during our stay as I noticed I could see some beautiful-looking rockpools from our hotel room window, and found that with a bit of scrambling you can actually access the coast right in front of the hotel too!

In the morning before breakfast, we headed down here in our swim stuff for a quick plunge in the refreshing water – it was just too tempting not to! You may want to check the tide times to make sure the tide is going out first, so that you don’t get cut off or stuck in any incoming waves, so please be careful.
The Hotel: Five Star Service at Fistral
Fistral Beach Hotel is rated 4 stars by Visit England and AA, though I would definitely give the service 5 stars :) Everyone was super friendly, really helpful, and just ‘on it’! It’s actually really rare to find amazing customer services across the board like this, especially in busy season in Cornwall, so this was really refreshing.
A lot of their branding is focused around treating their guests like ‘rockstars’, and this is definitely reflected in the laid back yet luxurious feel of the place, from the decor to the customer service. It just really feels like they spoil you, for example – if you book direct you get a free glass of champagne on arrival! – but also doesn’t take itself too seriously or come across in a ‘stuffy luxury’ way. The beachy surf vibes are still strong, which I love!
The Hotel is also ‘adults only’, and again this adds to the exclusive feel.
In terms of facilities, Fistral Beach Hotel has its Bay Bar for lounging with a drink before dinner, the Dune Restaurant (fine dining with a view! Plus this is where breakfast is served), plus its spa, indoor pool & gym as well. These are open to the public to book as well as guests.

The Rooms: Sea Views & Pure Comfort
Wow – walking into our room I was totally blown away! We were lucky enough to stay in one of their ‘Best’ Rooms (which is – as the name suggests – their best style of room other than their Suite) which has its own spacious private balcony overlooking the sea with seating, and a free-standing bath looking out to the ocean as well.
Even regardless of the incredible views of the Atlantic ocean and the balcony, the room itself is gorgeous too. It was pretty immaculate and felt newly refurbished, and I love the beachy yet modern decor throughout.
The ‘Best’ room definitely felt very spacious, and I love the little coffee machine we had as well (not sure if these are in every type of room but certainly tea & coffee and facilities are!). However I do know that every room as standard comes with a wi-fi, flatscreen TV, fridge, and a wonderful selection of GAIA spa toiletries in the bathrooms as well. Oh, and a SUPER comfortable bed too!
This bathroom also had the wow-factor, and of course I immediately had to try out that bath (and yes, you can see that stunning view when chilling in the tub!), complete with glass of champagne to kick off our evening.

The Spa: Total Relaxation
We didn’t actually visit the Fistral Beach Hotel Spa during this visit, but I have had the opportunity to try it out a couple of years ago with my cousin and it was amazing! The spa uses GAIA spa products from Boringdon Hall, which all smell amazing, and I remember my massage was one of the best I’ve ever had. I actually fell asleep a couple of times during it, which NEVER happens.
You get complimentary access to the pool/spa area with your stay as well.
The Dune Restaurant: Delicious Fine Dining
We at at the hotel’s Dune Restaurant in the evening, and were very excited to try out the 5 course tasting menu. The restaurant does also offer an a la carte menu for Ā£37pp for two courses and Ā£45pp for 3 courses (accurate at the time of writing this), but with the 5 course tasting menu being Ā£65pp I would definitely recommend going for that if you can! It was SO good.
You can also add on a drinks/wine paring with the tasting menu for an additional £35pp.
^ This course was our ‘bread & snacks’ (not technically counted as a course) which included mackerel amouse bouche, and some delicious warm flavoured bread and a smooth, whipped ‘beef’ butter.
^ Our first course was vodka cured trout with a bloody mary sorbet; something totally different, including flavours that were really unique and that neither of us had ever had before – and paired with a Love By Leoube rosĆ©.
^ The second course was a chicken liver parfait served with crispy skin and warm brioche, and paired with a Trimbach, Gewurztraminer (Gewurztraminer is our favourite wine!). I will admit neither of us particularly like chicken liver BUT ended up eating most of this as it was done in such a nice way.
^ Next up, we had Plaice fillet served with vanilla butter and paired with a Cannonball, Chardonnay.
^ Our main meat dish was lamb rump served with the most delicious boulangĆØre potatoes and accompanied by a Sierra Cantabria, Rioja.
^ For dessert we had this strawberry & vanilla donut mousse with clotted cream ice cream, and this was DREAMY! Paired with a sweet Angelo Negro, Birbet dessert wine.
^ And finally we had our petit fours! Again, not an ‘official’ course (so in reality you end up getting 7 dishes in total), and again – totally delicious.
This is definitely one of the best fine dining meals I’ve had in Cornwall and would definitely recommend this whether you’re staying at the hotel, or in the area and looking for some first class food in Newquay!
Overall we had the most incredible experience and I was absolutely gutted to leave. Thank you so much to Fistral Beach Hotel for having us!

*We were kindly invited for a complimentary stay and dinner in exchange for a review, but all opinions are my own. I can honestly say this is my favourite hotel I’ve stayed at so far in Cornwall!
