The team at The Wyldes have turned camping into a luxurious experience at their new campsite!
The organisers of Leopallooza festival (one of my favourite festivals!) and Live in the Wyldes live music events near Bude have had to get creative this year after the pandemic has meant many of their events have been cancelled or postponed until 2022. It’s been a seriously tough 18 months for the events and hospitality industry, but the Wyldes team have pulled it off by setting up an awesome new pop-up campsite at the empty festival/events site for the rest of the season (and hopefully next year for VIP use during the festival too!).
The Site – Wylde Valley
The new campsite features pitches for vans/touring campers and those bringing their own tents, a brand new fancy toilet & shower block, water/washing facilities around the site, optional electric hookups, AND (if tents aren’t your thing), a whole area dedicated to their boutique bell tents. I was so excited to be invited for a stay in one of these!
I also love the Wylde’s eco-friendly ethos, as the site is a ‘zero landfill site’. This means 90% of their waste is recycled, with the rest being turned into fuel pellets. They also have a tree replanting programme, and choose recycled and repurposed materials where possible.
The Bell Tents
Arriving at the bell tents area on site, you can see everything has been so well thought out. Each tent has loads of space around it with plenty of grass and your own dedicated decking with the bell tent perched on top! This touch makes the tents all look really elegant and adds a luxurious feel, with lights all strung around and a canopy too.
Every bell tent gets their own fire pit as well, complete with enough wood for 2 nights, firelighters, matches, and instructions (a definite bonus if you have no prior fire-making knowledge!). You could cook food on this if you wanted, or just use it to keep warm and create the perfect outdoorsy vibe of an evening, like we did. Combined with all the fairy lights, it all looked magical.
Inside our 5m bell tent (set up for up to 4 people – but they also have 4 meter ones for 2 people, and 6 meter ones for up to 6 people!), we were blown away by the sumptuous set up! Our beds were all ready made with comfy pillows, squishy duvets, and soft blankets, and there were plenty of little shelves/storage boxes in there too. My favourite touch was the large mirror as you walk in!
The lights around the decking and inside the tent are all solar powered, but there are also power sockets inside the tent too for charging your devices and whatever else you need! You can also add extras to your stay, such as extra beds, or a set of wooden chairs and table for your decking area if you didn’t want to bring your own.
Staying in a bell tent like this makes camping such a dream! Not only are they gorgeous (and very Instagrammable!), it’s also so nice not to have to faff around putting up and taking down a tent (especially in bad weather), and with all the bedding and towels provided for you, it means you have way less stuff to bring with you (and less laundry when you get home – a big plus!).

The Location
Wylde Valley is located in the middle of the peaceful countryside in North Cornwall, just 20 minutes south of the buzzing seaside town of Bude.
Here you can find Summerleaze beach (a blue flag beach which is great for surfing and families), which features the famous Bude sea pool! There are loads of restaurants and things to do here, or you can travel further down the coast to visit the harbour town of Boscastle (this is what we did, as I’ve never been!) to explore the coast path of visit the museum of witchcraft and magic. Again this about a 20 minute driver away.
Or if you head just a little bit further, there’s the whole area of Tintagel to explore too, with the famous castle, and the beautiful St. Nectan’s Glen to visit nearby as well.
Tent and touring pitches are available for stays of any length up until 13th September, while the bell tents have changeover days on either Mondays or Fridays for a minimum stay of 3 days.
