Making Plans for Summer
Spring has caught me off-guard and now I’m way too excited for Summer! Let the planning begin!
One of my favourite things to do as the weather starts to improve is to write a list of things I want to do this Summer. Admittedly, it’s not quite the same when you’re in a full-time job with a house and puppy to look after as it was when you had a 6 week school holiday, but I can sure make the most of it!
1. Go Kayaking!
My dad bought some kayaks last Summer, but I only ended up going out once! I need to step my game up this year and force N to come too, because there’s nothing more peaceful than floating around on the Cornish rivers.

2. Do the coast walk from Portreath to Godrevy
It’s a long way, but the scenery is honestly some of the best in the country! Equipped with snacks, sun-cream and sensible footwear, I think it could be a perfect day out.

3. Try Paddle-boarding
Paddle boarding seems a little more do-able than actually surfing (correct me if I’m wrong!), and looks like it could be a lovely, peaceful experience on a calm day.
4. Go to Boardmasters festival
I’ve been twice before and had an amazing time (it’s a festival on the cliffs looking out to sea, within walking distance to the beach, and with surf competitions all weekend, what could be better?), and have you seen the line-up this year?
Bastille (awesome), Clean Bandit (sweet), Duke Dumont (brilliant), MNEK (yes please!), The Darkness (amazing!) Rudimental (YES), Faithless (oh my God, yes). How can I refuse?
I need to quickly gather a motley crew to join me and buy my ticket.

5. Have a BBQ on the beach
Obviously this has to happen every year, multiple times.
6. Make lemonade
I have never made lemonade before but I am adamant that I must try it, because homemade, still lemonade is one of my favourite drinks ever.

BONUS: If we end up going to Thorpe Park, I need to go on Stealth.
We probably won’t (it’s not really on my agenda), but if we do happen to go there again, it is my goal to actually go on Stealth this time. Anyone who has ever been to Thorpe Park before will understand this; the Stealth ride is horrible. I hate rides that launch you from 0 to 80mph etc, and I completely chickened out last time we went. However, I refuse to be beaten by a ride so I really need to do this at some point in my life.

What are you planning for Summer?

Love this list, and Boardmasters looks amazing! Might have to trek across the Sea for some surf and tunes xx
Haha do it! I am literally so excited for this line-up; just want to get paid this week and then my ticket is happening :) x
I have zero plans bar going to Cedar Point (a huge theme park in Ohio, it’s like no 3 for the theme park with the most rollercoasters in the world) for the husbands birthday.
Ah jealous!! That sounds incredible :) I am a bit of a theme park enthusiast, but have only been to ones in Europe; I’ve never been to the big American ones or anything, but would love to some day! x
Paddle boarding is so much easier than surfing and fun! I’ll be joining you in plans for kayaking :)
Hehe I’m glad to hear it! Bring on the watersports :) x
Definitely a lot of things I want to do as well this summer! Can’t believe how many people paddle board now but I’ve heard you’ve got to have really good balance and a strong core for it so think I will probably fail badly at it haha

Oh dear, this means I too would probably fail; my core is definitely not strong by any means haha x
I love making lemonade – every year I do, it is so thirst quenching! You coastal walk sounds marvellous! I used to go to Godrevy all the time with my best friend when I was a little girl, every weekend, to a little café where I would eat scampi!
Haha awh I love scampi! We used to go to Godrevy all the time too; my mum had a National Trust pass so we’d be able to park and stuff for free :) The parking is pretty expensive now, and I’m not a National Trust member, so N and I stick to Gwithian next door most of the time :) x
I remember when they used to do sand sculptures there too, I remember there was this amazing dragon once when I went.
Aww, you sound like you’ll have such a great summer! I live in hot and humid South East Asia so it feels like we have a BBQ every other month! Hahaa

Ooh that sounds lovely :) Though I don’t know if I could cope with the humidity! x
What a
great idea to write a list like that! Definitely something I’m going to start
doing, so thank you so much for the inspiration. Your ideas for summer are also
really great; being in nature is one of my favourite ways of relaxing during
summer break.

Thank you :) And yes, me too. Luckily it’s so easy to go out and explore nature here in Cornwall; we have fantastic countryside and a famous coastline, so it really is perfect. x
Great photos! I’m hoping to visit with some friends I haven’t seen in a long time, preferably on a beach. :)

Aw that will be lovely :) I’d recommend Gwithian, Porth, Fistral or Praa Sands beaches! Those are some of my faves :) x
Oh Anna these look marvelous! Thanks for your lovely travel suggestions over at my blog! I’ll surely keep it in mind. Should I get to visit Cornwall, I hope I could meet you. :) Beach and barbecues are certainly a must this summer and of course ice cream!

Awh yes that would be lovely! :) Give me a shout if you do!
Ahh yes I totally forgot about ice cream; I love making my own ice lollies (popsicles) :) x
These pictures are so evocative! I can’t imagine peeling myself away from my scarf right now, but should that time come, this looks like an excellent list. Although- you’re on your own with Stealth *shudders*.
Haha I’m not sure I ever will get around to doing it. I hope I do, but I feel I’m getting less brave for these things as I get older! I had no fear when I was 15 haha, but now I’m a bit more wary of things…x
Can I please join in on all of those?? I soooo want to go to Cornwall this summer – my boyfriend used to spend his summers there and I’ve never been so we’ve been planning a long weekend out there!
But of course! :) You definitely should; Cornwall is not to be missed! (Though I am slightly biased…)
Let me know if you do plan to come down; I’d be happy to give you some recommendations of where to visit :) x
These sounds like great ideas which will make for an amazing summer! I’m with you on the homemade lemonade.
Awh thank you :) and I am so excited to make some lemonade; need to start looking up some recipes! x
