It’s approaching festival season, and Cornwall has a whole lot to offer this year!
Every year at this time I get the excited festival feeling; it’s something about the beginning of summer… and the fact there’s been a good 12 months for me to forget the grim-ness of festival toilets and packing down tents in the rain. BRING IT ON!
Live in the Wyldes
26th – 28th May
This is such a big event for Cornwall with some really cool artists. If you happen to be near Bude, I believe there are still tickets available – and who wants to miss out on Rag n’ Bone Man, Chase And Status and The Human League??
The Great Estate
2nd – 4th June
This brand new festival is set in the prestigious grounds of Scorrier House and its surrounding 450 acres, just a 5 minute drive from me! There’s going to be secret gin gardens, silent discos nestled amongst the woodlands, burlesque shows and even an on-site wellness centre. I’m really looking forward to seeing Electric Swing Circus on the Friday night, and OF COURSE Craig Charles’ Funk and Soul Show on Sunday – my fave!!
Electric Beach Festival
16th – 17th June
This dance music festival is based on Great Western Beach in Newquay, and is basically just one big beach party! Acts include Badly Drawn Boy, Cuban Brothers and Backbeat Sound System, and the weekend is set to include plenty of activities such as yoga, SUP, fire shows and more.
Tunes in the Dunes
30th June – 2nd July
To be honest, I’m extremely tempted to head to this festival based on Perranporth beach! With Clean Bandit, John Newman, Louisa Johnson, Billy Ocean, Example and loads of other awesome acts, this isn’t one to miss. I’m conflicted between this and another festival that isn’t in Cornwall and I’m as of yet undecided…
Tropical Pressure
14th – 16th July
This is the smallest festival on the list, but I wanted to include it as it’s so unique! Held at the Eco Park in Porthtowan, this event is a celebration of African, Latin American and Caribbean cultures, with quality live artists from across the globe. There’s usually loads of workshops during the day, and the best thing? The festival is 100% vegetarian!
Leopallooza
28th – 30th July
Returning for the eleventh time, Leopallooza is an award-winning, independent festival set in a wooded valley just outside of Bude, and the line up this year includes The Cribbs, Gabrielle Aplin and much much more.
Boardmasters
9th – 13th August
Okay so this year the line up has totally tempted me to get a ticket, and I’m excited to say that YES, I will be attending for my 4th time at this festival! It’s one of Cornwall’s most infamous events and has just the most incredible setting up on the Watergate Bay cliffs. Naming just a few of the acts I’m excited about; Slaves, Jamiroquai, Pete Tong, Kate Nash, Jax Jones, Stormzy, Armand Van Helden and loadddsss more!
Will you be heading to any of these Cornish festivals this year?
