Winter is officially here and I feel like it’s finally acceptable to feel festive and ready for hibernation…
Below is a list of my favourite Winter essentials… not necessarily Christmassy, but things that I love to enjoy all Winter long through ’til March and April!
1. Ultrabalm from Lush
My lips have been SUPER chapped and sore lately, so I posted to Instagram if anyone had any good natural solutions, and I had a couple of people mention Ultrabalm by Lush; it’s an all-purpose balm so can be used on lips, hands, dry patches etc. and it only contains 3 ingredients! So far it has really been helping soothe my lips so would definitely recommend giving it a go.
2. Fairy Lights
Every year when I pop up the fairy lights for Christmas I ask myself why I don’t have them in my life for the whole year round! There’s something so cosy about them and I’m definitely considering leaving them up long after I take the Christmas decorations down to keep me going through Winter.
3. A Good Book
I’ve written about my love for Sarah Knight’s book ‘The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k’ before, and I’ve also read her second book ‘How to Get Your Sh*t Together’, but I had no idea she had a third book out until the other day when I came across it in Waterstones! ‘You do you’ is one of my favourite phrases at the moment, so naturally I bought it on the spot and am very excited to have a read.
4. Snuggly Jumpers
I think most ladies (and many men!) will agree that one of the best parts about Winter is being able to snuggle up in beautiful jumpers and knitwear. However I do find myself getting in a rut of just wearing jeans and jumper all Winter long, so I’ve recently been enjoying the jumper dress look instead too! This one is from TOBI*.
^ Seaglass bangle from Tideline Treasure*
5. Chilled Music
If I want to feel super zen and focused while working at home, I love popping ‘chill. radio’ on the Sonos (you can also listen to it here). However I’ve also recently been loving the song Don’t Delete the Kisses by Wolf Alice (and in fact their whole album!).
6. Incense
I love candles as much as the next basic blogger, but this year I’ve been totally converted to incense. The smell is way stronger and fills the whole house with a beautiful earthy scent. Personally I find it way more soothing and effective than candles, plus they’re way cheaper! Since burning incense (my favourite is the White Musk scent*!) I’ve way so many compliments on the way my house smells it’s crazy.
7. Warming Slippers
Gotta keep those toes warm! Especially if you’re like me and you don’t particularly like wearing socks all day… a good pair of slippers are a must. I’d recommend faux sheepskin to stay warm, and remember to keep them fresh and clean by handwashing and spraying every so often.
8. Mulling Spices
There’s nothing better than hot punch or mulled wine or cider, so get your hands on some mulling spices next time you’re at the shop. You can buy them separately, or in a pot like this one (I grabbed this at Trevaskis Farm last year), and if you’re not into alcohol you can always mull some apple juice instead!
9. Cute Mugs
Enjoying those mulled beverages and hot chocolates throughout Winter wouldn’t be the same without a collection of cute mugs. I’m loving the hand-thrown ceramic style mugs at the moment and can’t wait to build more of a collection – check out Etsy for some like these too!
What Winter Essentials would you add to the list?
*Some items in this post were sent to me for the purposes of featuring them, and some links may be affiliate links, however all opinions are my own!
I freaking love Sarah Knight too. You Do You is such a great message for new year goals.
This list is fab! I used to be obsessed with incense as a teen and would live in constant musky fug, when we moved I dug out all my remaining sticks and I’ve been enjoying them again this winter :) Alice xxx
