Don’t you just love finding fantastic local brands that you just want to shout about to the world?
This is how I feel about Bloomtown! Based in Penryn, Cornwall, Preyanka and her partner Medwin started Bloomtown in 2016 and the brand has been growing with success ever since. They now offer a range of body and skincare products from face masks, scrubs, oils and soaps; all of which are certified vegan and cruelty-free, containing no parabens, sulphates, SLS, or other nasties.
It’s also UK’s first independently certified palm oil free company! How cool is that?
For those who don’t know, palm oil is a type of oil commonly used throughout many edible and non-edible products. It is made from the fruit from oil palm trees – the growth and farming of which is sadly one of the most unsustainable industries in the world, and contributes to 10% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide too. I’ve written more about palm oil and what common things often contain it in my ’10 things you’re buying that probably contain palm oil’ post if you’d like to know more.
Preyanka and Medwin are so passionate about sustainability and the environment that they have designed a brand that adheres to their values strictly, donates 10% of their profits to causes they believe in, and have even created their own free downloadable guide on how to avoid palm oil!
I was extremely excited to try out a few of their flagship products when they arrived, and I can confess that – two weeks on – I am pretty obsessed! First of all, how pretty is their branding and packaging? I love their logo and the colours they have used to show the difference between their 5 – 8 signature scents.
First up is their exfoliating and moisturising sugar scrub in their ‘Grove’ scent. It’s invigorating pink grapefruit and blood orange smell is the perfect wake up call in the morning, and I’ve been loving using it to scrub off old fake tan in the shower! It’s not too harsh at all, but gets the job done, and is also great for a gentle exfoliation to help with razor bumps too.
Bloomtown’s blue clay mask with indigo leaf (‘Spring’ scent) is an award-winning, best seller product of theirs, and I can see why! Last week I tried it for myself while having a nice relaxing bath, and I love how refreshed my face felt afterwards – it’s also helped to reduce the redness of a particularly stubborn spot I had by my eyebrow.
Their aromatherapy bath oil blends are also super popular products, doubling as nourishing body oils. I’ve been using the ‘Meadow’ scent to moisturise my skin after shaving, and as a soothing massage oil for Alex too. However I know you could also use these as a makeup remover with a damp cloth, as a chemical free way to get rid of stubborn waterproof eye makeup.
Bloomtown also sell their oils in roll-on forms too (like this ‘Woods’ scented one) so you can travel with it for calming aromatherapy on the go!
You may have seen that I went on a natural soap-making course run by Bloomtown a few weeks ago, where we learnt about the science behind soap-making and its ingredients. It was fascinating, and my soap has nearly set now! They run these workshops occasionally throughout Cornwall, and I’d definitely recommend going along to one if not only to understand more about what goes into your body and skincare.
Sometimes you just come across a brand that totally fits with you, and you feel really passionate about sharing them! After speaking with Preyanka, I’m really pleased to be an ambassador for Bloomtown, and I’m excited that my readers can get a 15% discount on their orders too by using my discount code: ANNA15
Happy shopping!
* Bloomtown kindly sent me these products to try because I reached out about promoting their amazing brand! All opinions are as always my own.
