All year long I make lists of things I want to do in Summer.
Whether its a very specific Cornish bucket list, or a more general wish list of ideas, Summer is all about ticking off those items and having a great time in the sun (or rain – it’s gotta be embraced in Cornwall!).
But I quite often feel like my brain isn’t registering this season properly… I guess it’s not as easy when you have to work and don’t have a huge long 6-week holidays to mark the official presence of SUMMER. Week just blends into week and the next thing you know it’s almost gone.
I mean, guys…. it’s JULY.
I don’t even understand how that happened. Last thing I heard it was May and I’d just come back from my trip to Montenegro, thinking ‘ahh this is great, I’ve got the entire Summer left to do ALL the things’. Yeah, um… where did those 2 months go??
Okay so I haven’t exactly wasted the whole time sat indoors; I’ve been to not one, not two, but THREE festivals already, been in the sea a good few times (twice without a wetsuit!), and ticked off a few of my other bucket list bits, but I can’t help that feeling that it’s all escaping me too quickly.
I still have loads of things I want to do, and hopefully I have time. Hopefully there is still an allowance of sunshine left in the Cornish weather bank that I can enjoy, and hopefully the tourist descent will be as painless as possible.
Now is the time to get in the sea, with or without a board of some type and just for the hell of it, to eat more bbq food than you thought possible, to hike and explore and walk all around the coast, to camp under the stars and wake up really early to watch the sun rise.
Because this is IT, this is Summer and it’s happening. So get the hell outside and do all those things you wrote down in your list because this is right now! What are you waiting for?
