The Perfect Energy Boosting Snack
When you live in Cornwall, life is all about long walks and outdoor activities.
Especially when you wake up on a Saturday morning to this face wanting to go for a walk:

The weather has been perfect recently (good old September!), so we decided to head down to Falmouth for a walk around Pendennis Castle. It’s a dog friendly coastal path, so P-dawg got to meet some other furry friends on the way.

It was about 11am and (considering the time of year) it was getting pretty hot out in the sun! We got a bit lost around the castle, but eventually found our way back to the car.

A huge helicopter decided to fly overhead, extremely low! I was worried Pepper would freak out, but apparently this dog is not phased by anything…

Back at the car and exhausted from the heat, we were in need of a snack. I (being always super-prepared) brought along a couple of Nakd bars to replenish our energy!

Natural Balance Foods sent me a box full of delicious Nakd bars to try out, and I must say I’ve been seriously enjoying them on our walks! Not only do I like the somewhat cheeky name, I also like their priorities.
These tasty little bars are made with all natural ingredients (all the good stuff like fruit and nuts); that means no wheat, dairy or added sugars.

I’m all for healthy foods and energy boosting snacks that aren’t full of rubbish, but I can rarely be bothered to take the time to prepare and pack my own for a spontaneous walk. It’s also hard to find pre-made stuff that actually tastes good.
Obviously it’s handy that you can just grab your Nakd bars and go, but I wasn’t expecting there to be such a good variety of fun flavours in the pack. It’s not just your generic-fruit-and-nut bar; here are some of the flavours I received:
- Cocoa mint
- Rhubarb custard
- Gingerbread
- Berry delight
- Cocoa delight
- Cocoa orange
- Cashew cookie
- Pecan pie
- Cafe mocha
- Bakewell tart
How awesome is that selection? Now that I’ve pretty much devoured my whole box, I can safely say my favourites are the Gingerbread, Berry delight and Cashew Cookie ones – yum!
Natural Balance Foods have some tips on their website about how to make the most of energy foods, and you can find more information about their brand values and products there too.
*Yes, I got sent these for free to review, but I have honestly seriously enjoyed them and will definitely be buying my own box soon! A mixed box of 18 bars costs £14.99 (working out at 83p per bar), which I’d say is definitely worth it for the quality & fun flavours you get.

The Bakewell Tart ones are just amazing! Gives you a proper indulgence fix without the guilt :)
Can’t go wrong! Glad you had a nice walk around the castle (although how you managed to get lost is a mystery, you mad woman!) !!!

Ahh yes I really liked that one too! :) It worked out quite well because N liked all the ones I wasn’t so keen on, and vice versa. That’s the beauty of a big variety box!
Hahaha well, there were some many paths going in different directions that we kept taking the wrong one, and I’m sure we didn’t end up doing the whole walk either….much confusion. xx
Ahh I love seeing photos of Pepper! :) lovely sunny day for a walk too. Natural Balance Foods seem to be doing the blogging rounds at the moment! Healthy snacks for everyone!! Alice xx

Haha yes I’ve seen a couple of other posts about them recently too; not a bad thing though, it’s nice to snack on something and not feel guilty haha! x
Definitely, plus they taste so good its worthy of delicious snack status! xx
I adore the walk to Pendennis! Good choice!
My favourite energy boosting snacks are the quick and easy peanut bars my mother-in-law showed me how to make. Just three ingredients: peanut butter, dried milk and honey.

Ahh those sound great! We are all big fans of peanut butter (including Pepper!) x
Adore Nakd bars, such amazing flavours my favourite is cocoa orange and I love the little nibbles you can get too! Looks like a lovely walk, I haven’t done that one actually – and Pepper is looking cute as ever!

Hehe :)
I’m not convinced we did the entire walk – it seems a bit short to me! But that suited Pepper fine as it was very hot and she was tiring quickly. Very beautiful around there though :) x
I’m afraid I’m a lot more Naka’ed these days! Nice pics as usual.
