I’ll be the first to admit I have a majorly sweet tooth!
I genuinely can’t finish a meal without having something sweet to eat immediately afterwards – forever craving that quick sugary fix! Whilst I can sometimes fulfil that need with a piece of fruit or chunk of dark chocolate, there’s nothing quick like a naughty piece of candy to bring some brightness and fun to your day.
Gummy sweets, sour chews and pick n’ mix treats have always reminded me of going on road trips and visiting theme parks or fairgrounds because we always used to pack them as snacks for the trip, and I’d always buy a paper bag of candies to munch on while waiting in queues for rides as well. They’re nostalgic for me, and whenever I have them now they always give me that buzz of excitement too!
However, it’s actually pretty hard to find fizzy candies and gummy sweets that don’t contain animal products such as gelatine and dairy. These are totally unnecessary ingredients and yet it’s basically impossible to find pick n’ mix that is vegan or even vegetarian!
That’s why I was super excited to come across The Conscious Candy Company; an ethical and environmentally friendly pick n’ mix delivery company, based here in the South West! I love their branding and ethos, and it made me extremely happy to find out they’re based near Plymouth, as I try to always make a point of supporting local businesses too.
The Conscious Candy Co will be selling boxes of pick n’ mix that you can have delivered straight to your door, or to send to a friend as a care package (love this idea), and they have a fantastic mix of candies inside, from fizzy sours, cola bottles, flavoured foams, sour strawberries, rainbow lollies and more.
My personal pick n’ mix faves are bubblegum bottles and these adorable fizzy foam skulls! I love that everything in the box is completely vegan so you don’t have to worry about any random animal products inside.
It’s not just animal products this brand has worked hard to avoid – they’ve also ensured all their packaging is 100% recyclable! Delivered in a cardboard box with the sweet wrapped in beautiful pink tissues paper, there’s no ridiculous Styrofoam or cellophane packaging to be seen.
I had one of the 1kg boxes arrive and I can tell you it’s definitely going to last me a long time! I’ve been munching on them over the last few evenings and there’s still tonnes left. I think a big box like this would be fantastic if you’re planning a movie night with friends as well, as the large variety means there’s definitely going to be something for everyone inside.
The company is launching on 2nd November, but you can follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date with them until then. I think their boxes will make fantastic Christmas gifts and I can’t wait for others to try them too!
What’s your favourite pick n’ mix sweet?
