I absolutely love finding new drinking & eating spots in Cornwall, especially if they’re super local as well!
I heard about Verdant Taproom from Niki & James (who just got engaged yesterday while I write this – WAHOO!), and who live nearby as they were raving about what a cool space it was recently, and I’ve also been seeing lots of people hanging out here on Instagram. As it’s only 10 minutes from us, I knew we needed to go and try it out!
Where to find Verdant Taproom & Brewery
You can find the Verdant Brewery and adjoining ‘taproom’ (bar/restaurant/event space) in the Parkengue Kernick Industrial Estate in Penryn, next to Raize the Roof and opposite Penryn Gymnastics.
You can easily park on the street here, or opposite in the Penyrn Gymnastics car park, or simply walk from Penyrn station, and it’s open Monday to Saturday at 11am – 11pm, and Sundays from 12pm – 10pm.
Address: Unit 30 Parkengue Kernick Industrial Estate, Penryn TR10 9EP
About Verdant Brewing Co. & The Beers
Verdant Brewing Co has been creating quality craft beers since 2014, focusing on hoppy, hazy pale ales, IPAs and DIPAs, and supplying customers all over the world from the Falmouth & Penryn area (we saw a crate about to be shipped off to Bangkok when we were there)!
At the start of this year, Verdant expanded to this large new unit in Penryn and have created this awesome ‘taproom’ space that’s become a community hang out spot with a bar (stocking 16 lines of Verdant beers, 4 cask lines and more), shared bench seating, and even a pizza oven too.
The Food at Verdant Taproom + Situ Cafe
Verdant have kitted out their kitchen with a pizza oven, ready to cook up delicious, authentic Neapolitan style pizzas throughout the day. Honestly these were my FAVE kind of pizzas and all the toppings were so so delicious – the perfect pairing with a Verdant beer.
Verdant have also teamed up with Situ Cafe – an awesome food truck (created from an old German ambulance) set up in the Taproom yard, selling a mix of tasty comfort dishes with an Indian-Ugandan fusion twist! Chef, Sham Mulji, has created a flavoursome menu of snacks and hot dishes to enjoy at the Taproom on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays.
These were so yummy! Lamb kebab and loaded Mogo chips – so good.
They’ve also collaborated with Verdant’s pizza chef, Rylie, to create a Neapolitan pizza with a spicy mince, fresh yogurt and crispy onion topping too.
Events at Verdant Taproom
The Taproom space has already been used for various events and exhibitions since it’s opening a few months ago, and they have a full calendar of events you can look through on their website, such as DJ sessions, Craft & Draught days, and more!
There was a DJ playing while we were there which was awesome, definitely a fun vibe and a great space to hang out with your friends for drinks at the weekend.
Thanks so much to Verdant and Situ Cafe for having us for the evening!
PS. Verdant is dog friendly! Inside and out, which I love. I’ve included them in my updated ‘Best Dog Friendly Cafes & Pubs in Cornwall’ blog post too.
Will you be popping along to Penryn for an evening of beer & great food?
*We were offered complimentary food and drink in exchange for a review, but all opinions are my own. I can’t wait to go back soon!
