Hen do activities in Cornwall

Cornwall Hen Do Ideas & Activities (The Ultimate Guide)

Looking for hen party ideas in Cornwall? Here’s my top selection of fun hen do activities and things to do (from a Cornish local).

Over the past 2 years I’ve not only helped to plan 3 different hen dos for my friends, but also was a bride (and therefore a hen!) myself too! My friends planned a fantastic hen weekend in Cornwall for me, which I loved, so I wanted to share some tips and activities that I’ve actually either done myself, OR would love to do from the perspective of a recent bride.

(Also will definitely be saving this myself for future hen party planning for my friends!)

Where to stay for your Cornwall hen party

The Valley Cottages, nr. Truro/Falmouth

This is where we stayed for my Cornwall hen do and it was great! The Valley’s site has lots of 5 star holiday cottages (we hired two), an outdoor and indoor pool (which you can book for private sessions), and is only 10 minutes from Truro which is very convenient for anyone travelling by car or train, AND for getting takeaways delivered too.

My friends decorated the cottage so well, with loads of photos and a disco theme (my fave), and it worked so well as a base for us to get around Cornwall for our activities throughout the weekend.

Kate & Toms – hen party houses website

This website is way better for booking hen party houses than Airbnb, because most Airbnb owners state that they don’t allow ‘parties’ or same sex groups. So rather than worrying about that, Kate & Toms is a dedicated party house site! We actually used this to help find our wedding party venue too.

Find hen party houses in Cornwall at kateandtoms.com.

Pentillie Castle, nr. Tamar River

Okay this might be a bit boujee, but omg, if you have a big group of you and your budget allows – WHY THE HECK NOT book a whole castle for the hen party?!

Pentillie Castle has 11 bedrooms, an outdoor pool, and 55 acres of stunning grounds to explore and make your hen feel like a true princess.

Fir Hill Estate Yurt Glamping, nr. Newquay

We absolutely loved our stay at Fir Hill in one of their beautiful yurts, and they are fully set up for group getaways and parties so that you can hire out part or all of the site for an amazing glamping weekend in Cornwall.

Learn more at thefirhill.co.uk. (Note – I find their website a bit hard to navigate so definitely take a look at my review & pics here to get more of an idea too!).

Fir Hill Glamping

Cornish Tipi Holidays, nr. Port Isaac

While I’ve never stayed here myself, I know lots of people who have and absolutely loved it. It looks beautiful! Camp in tipis in the meadow, with access to the onsite cafe, campires, and even a gorgeous quarry lake that you can swim in or canoe on.

Cornish Wave Wild Camping & Activity Weekend, nr. Newquay

If you want a full outdoorsy experience, Cornish Wave host amazing wild camping and activity weekends for hen parties and groups – around the Truro/Newquay area.

Stay in bell tents in the campsite they’ve built in the woodlands, with campfires, compostable toilets and games areas, and spend the day time trying coasteering, surfing or paddleboarding in Newquay with the team! (You can also book these activities separately without the camping, as I’ll mention below).

Hotel Stays & Packages

There are loads of gorgeous hotels to choose from in Cornwall that could be a great fit for a luxurious, relaxing hen party. The Bedruthan Hotel is a great option as there are always activities going on here, plus their outdoor spa area experience is really fun! Or The Polurrian Hotel has its own Hen Party Special package too.

Active & Outdoors Hen Do Activities in Cornwall

Old School Sports Day

We did this for my friend Niki’s hen do and it was so much fun! There’s a company in Newquay that will run an old school sports day for you, with classic bean bag games, races and silly competitions to get you all laughing.

Giant SUP (or paddle boarding tour)

We were booked to do a Giant SUP activity at Mullion for my hen party but we had the biggest thunder and lightening storm happen that meant it wasn’t safe to go in the water! :( Gutted, but I was really buzzing for this and would definitely still love to do it. A great hen activity! (Cornish Wave also offers this in Newquay).

Coasteering or surfing

When we went on the Cornish Wave adventure weekend we did both a surfing and coasteering session with them, but you can book all these activities separately to do in Newquay too! Coasteering is LOADS of fun if you haven’t tried it before – a mixture of climbing, jumping and swimming.

Kayaking tour

If you’re looking for a water activity that’s a little less chaotic and ‘IN’ the water, a kayaking tour could be a great choice! I’ve been on a few trips with Koru Kayaking (based either in St Agnes or Helford river) and it’s a really beautiful way to explore Cornwall. They also do SUP tours as well.

Hire a boat

If you have a big group, privately hiring a party boat could be the ultimate Cornish party experience! There are a few boats that offer this around Cornwall, including the Jubilee Queen in Falmouth. Or if your smaller hen group loves sailing or being on the sea, there are plenty of places to charter smaller boats from around Cornwall, for a few hours or a whole day.

Jetski safari

Explore Cornwall’s amazing coastline with a hint of adrenaline on a jet ski safari! Cornwall Waverunners offer these experiences from Newquay or Carlyon Bay (St. Austell area).

Via Ferrata

Got any climbing gals on your hen trip? We tried Via Ferrata Cornwall a few years ago and it was great fun, especially the zip lines at the end! Plus there’s a really nice cafe on site too…

Aqua Park

I’ve tried these wipe out style aqua parks a couple of times and they are SO much fun!! It’s a great laugh and Adrenalin Quarry is a good place to do this as they also have other activities on site too, such as ziplining, go karting and more (if you want a day packed with action).

Aquapark cornwall

Go Karting

Speaking of – I LOVE go karting! For some reason it always seems to get listed on stag do ideas websites but not for hens though 🙄, but there’s no reason why this wouldn’t make an extremely fun activity for your hen party too! We like St Eval as it’s the biggest track in Cornwall.

Segway experience

Alex and I did a segwaying experience years ago and it was really good fun. Sadly that company isn’t around anymore, but Cornwall Segway offer lots of different experiences around Newquay area.

‘Tree surfers’ treetop climbing

Okay this is technically seconds over the border in Devon but a trip to Tree Surfers at Tamar Trails is definitely worth it. I screamed the whole time doing this but really enjoyed all the climbing, drops and ziplines 🤣

Foraging course

This is a little bit different but if you have a small, food and nature-loving group of you, a foraging course could be a really fun activity for your hen party. There are a few places that offer this around Cornwall, so depending on if you want to book a private one or group class you can look which is right for you. I did one with Fat Hen years ago which was brilliant!

Indoor Hen Party Ideas in Cornwall

Cocktail class or wine tasting

A classic cocktail class always goes down a treat for a hen party! We did a brilliant one in Bath for Niki’s hen, but there are places that offer this in Cornwall too, such as the Esplanade Hotel in Newquay, or the Rum & Crab Shack in St. Ives. OR try a wine tasting experience at Knightor Winery.

Flower crown workshop

The perfect summer hen party activity – get together and make gorgeous real flower crowns with fresh and dried flowers. I haven’t done this myself but heard great things about Hayley Scott Blooms!

Spa day (or at home spa)

For that chilled out bride, you can’t go wrong with a spa day! Depending on your budget, there are lots of beautiful spa hotels I love here in Cornwall, but I would say if you’re booking for a group (rather than a romantic couple day!), the best options would be St. Michaels in Falmouth, or Bedruthan in Newquay. OR why not bring the spa to you? Whether you’re staying at home or you’ve hired a self catered property for your hen do, Home Spa Cornwall offer great mobile spa services for this.

St. Michael Hotel & Spa

Dance class

Look I’ll be the first to admit to being a TERRIBLE dancer, and a dance class isn’t personally my cup of tea BUT I know a lot of ladies who would love this so why not?? Cornwall Dance School has some fun options for this.

Yoga day

Your chilled, zen bride might also love a relaxing yoga session for her hen party, but why not make a full event out of it? Claire Bowring offers these really unique ‘zen do’ packages that could be the perfect option.

Cooking class

For the foodies, what could be better than making AND eating delicious food on a hen party? Philleigh Way cookery school have lots of courses but you can also reach out to them to build a unique ‘team building’ (hen group, same difference!) experience for you. OR The Kitchen Front in Bude have a really unique Vintage Party package for those wanting a quirky, vintage throwback experience too.

Escape room

I’ve tried a couple of escape rooms in Cornwall and I personally LOVE them (I love challenges and game activities 😁). There are lots of different ones all across Cornwall (and they all keep changing names and who they’re owned by, so I can’t keep track!), so it’s easiest to just search your nearest location to find one!

Escape room Cornwall

Painting workshops

If your group loves to get creative, why not book onto a painting workshop? I’ve been taught by the wonderful Sarah Bell at one of her workshops before and she’s brilliant, OR you can organise a private party event with Art & Wine Cornwall.

Adults soft play

I still have NEVER been to one of these, but our friends always talk about how we should book onto one of the adults indoor play events at Raze the Roof 🤣. It looks like so much fun!

Evening & Night Out Hen Dos in Cornwall

Skybar events

Skybar events are like mini music festivals on the Cornish coast and they’re always great fun! They have several happening throughout the year at different spots in Cornwall, so for a festival-vibe fun night out hen do this could be perfect.

Fistral Beach Bar

Fistral Beach Bar is THE place to be in the summer, and if you can sync up your hen do for one of their Terrace Parties or Silent Disco nights, you’re onto a winner. These always get booked up because they’re so fun, and you cannot beat the incredible beach sunsets here! We did this for Niki’s hen and it was beaut!

Fistral cornwall

Lusty Glaze

Similarly to Fistral, Lusty Glaze is another Newquay beach that always has something cool going on, from DJ nights and mini festivals, to discos and beach parties.

Newquay night out

For the Saturday night of my hen weekend, we had a brilliant girls night out in Newquay and I loved every minute. There are so many options for places to drink, dance and eat here and there’s always something going on. We ate at Clover Club (delicious small plates, and the team here were SO lovely to our hen group!), and went to loads of different bars & places after this.

(Newquay also occasionally hosts Bingo Loco nights, which we did for Frankie’s 30th birthday and it was hilarious – would definitely recommend if you’re synced up for a hen night!)

Newquay hen do

Falmouth night out

Falmouth is also a good night out but has a totally different vibe. It’s a university town, so everyone is a bit younger, but there are still loads of options for eating, drinking and dancing (and also a better scene for LGBTQ+ events and bars too!).

Foodie Things to Do & Hen Do Catering in Cornwall

Afternoon tea

There are loads of great places and hotels to have a delicious afternoon tea in Cornwall, and this could be a cute activity for a hen party too. The Alverton Hotel does a great one and is in Truro so good and central in Cornwall.

Bottomless brunch

A bottomless brunch is the perfect way to get the hen do going! The Longstore offers these both in their Truro and Charlestown restaurants (this is one of our fave eateries in Cornwall!),

The Boathouse Newquay

This little outdoor ‘streetfood-on-the-harbour’ area in Newquay is a great vibe in summer, with lots of different food options, frozen cocktails, and a real ‘on holiday’ feeling. The Boathouse has various events happening throughout the year too so check it out.

Newquay boathouse

Pizza van

For my sister-in-law’s hen we hired a pizza van to come and make proper woodfired pizzas for us which worked great for a hen party! Granted that wasn’t in Cornwall, but there are pizza vans in Cornwall that are available to hire for this, such as Slice Pizza, or Kernowforno.

Grazing boards

Want a gorgeously curated grazing board without the hassle? Jodie from Grazers Cornwall is known throughout the county for her brilliant grazing boards that she makes for a range of events.

Luxury picnic

For summer hen parties, an outdoors luxury picnic set up could be the perfect feast idea. Dine with Iris is definitely one of the most well known in Cornwall for her beautiful set ups!

Hopefully this has given you some fun ideas for things to do and activities for your (or your friend’s) Cornwall hen do! :) Let me know in the comments if there’s anything you’d add to this list.

  • Some of the above activities & experiences were previously gifted to me or sponsored me in exchange for a review, but I’m not obligated to share about them in this post. I just genuinely enjoyed them and think they’d be a great fit for a hen party! :)

  15. What a fantastic roundup of Cornwall hen do ideas—I wish I’d had this guide when I helped plan my sister’s! One activity we added that was a huge hit was an indoor palm reading session, perfect for a relaxed afternoon after too much beach walking. If you want something quirky that everyone can join in without leaving the cottage, an AI palm reader that tells your personality and future from a photo of your palm is surprisingly fun and works brilliantly for groups. We used fun hen party palm reading activity to get everyone giggling and bonding over what their lines revealed—definitely a unique twist on traditional hen do entertainment.

  16. This is such a thorough guide for planning a hen do in Cornwall—I especially love the mix of outdoor and indoor activities you’ve included. As someone who also enjoys adding a unique twist to group events, I’ve found that incorporating a mini language challenge can be a fun bonding activity, like learning a few phrases in a different language together. For groups looking for a lighthearted and screen-free way to learn Chinese, I’d recommend checking out interactive Chinese learning games on a site like Typing Mandarin, which uses immersive gameplay to make practice feel effortless. It might be a quirky addition to a hen weekend if the bride has a love for languages or wants something different from the usual activities. Thanks for sharing all these brilliant ideas!

  17. This is such a comprehensive guide! I planned a hen do in Cornwall last year and we stayed at The Valley Cottages too—loved the private pool sessions. One thing I’d add for anyone putting together custom decorations or signage is that I used the scientific color palette generator to perfectly match our party theme colors without endless swatch comparisons. It made the whole process much smoother. Thanks for putting this list together!

  19. This discussion on closing the AI execution gap is fascinating. Much like mastering complex skills through simulated environments, businesses need structured frameworks to bridge the gap between theory and practice. For instance, I use this 麻雀 to refine my strategic thinking and decision-making under operational constraints in a risk-free setting.

  20. 5 stars
This guide is a lifesaver! As someone who just helped plan a hen weekend, I really appreciate the local insights on activities that actually work in Cornwall. The author’s personal experience as both a bride and a planner adds such a genuine touch to the suggestions. It reminded me of how much fun it was when we incorporated some creative DIY elements into our party games—something like using a Perler bead generator to design custom badges for the guests could have been a great addition to the list of unique crafts mentioned. Thanks for sharing these real-world tips!

  21. Before trying any unfamiliar application, I think it makes sense to look beyond the name and understand what the platform actually provides. jalwa app is an interesting topic to explore from that perspective. Information about how the app functions, what options are available, and what users should keep in mind beforehand can make a guide considerably more useful for first-time visitors.

  22. Lovely roundup – the coastal walk ideas are exactly what we needed to plan around our Cornwall trip. We have been building search-first BIG WALK puzzle walkthroughs (video-backed) over at our site lately, and articles like this are great inspiration for planning rest-day strolls.

  23. Great list — the Fistral Beach Bar terrace party is the one I’d steal. One small thing we found useful when planning my sister’s do: everyone wanted hair that actually suited them for the photos rather than the same Pinterest updo, and starting from face shape cut out a lot of trial and error. I ended up building a free tool for it after my own wedding hair panic — https://faceshapedetector.app/ — worth a play if you’re deciding on styles. Adding The Boathouse to my list, thanks!
