International Women's Day

Happy International Women’s Day! (Celebrating Inspiring Modern Ladies)

“I just want to do something special for all the ladies in the world

…I wanna get next to you and show you some gratitude.”

Well for those of you who aren’t aware of the reference, I hope that doesn’t come across too creepy. In fact I hope it doesn’t come across too creepy for those who do know the reference either…

ANYWAY I’m feeling chirpy this morning because it’s International Women’s Day and after only a few hours of being on the internet I’ve already seen so much awesome support and inspiration sharing between women, and it’s great.

It’s definitely a day to message all your gal pals and tell them how much you appreciate them and why, and to give some thought to all the other incredible women out there doing amazing things with their lives.

I thought I’d just write a bit about 3 modern women that inspire me by using their ‘fame’ for incredible causes:

1. Michelle Obama

I’m a huge fan of the Obamas, even politics aside I think they’re pretty cool people, and I love all the work Michelle does for promoting education for girls around the world. She is a brilliant example of someone ‘using their powers for good’ and being a great role model for young women everywhere.

2. Katie Piper

Ever since I watched her first documentary (‘My Beautiful Face’) back in 2010, I’ve always seen acid attack victim Katie Piper as someone to admire beyond words. It’s incredible how she has overcome such an awful experience and has turned it into something positive, and she works so hard to give other burn victims support with her charity.

3. Emma Watson

I have to admit, I never used to think of myself as a feminist. When I was younger, like so many others, I totally misunderstood the meaning of the word and I felt embarrassed to associate with it in case people thought I was a man-hater. I only truly started to understand what real feminism looks like when Emma Watson (a role model for many of my generation) started talking about it and shedding light on the matter. I think she’s incredible and strong, and I love how she has educated people around the world to the true meaning of something so important.

There are so many others of course but I thought I’d pick a top 3, and just shout out to all the awesome ladies in my life (friends & family, y’all know who you all are), the inspiring women I get to work with who are starting their own businesses, and all the other females in the world doing epic things like charity work, activism, or even fighting through hard situations that I can’t even imagine.

Who is inspiring you this Women’s Day?
