The Scarlet Hotel Spa

The Best Spa Hotels in Cornwall: Luxury in Newquay, St. Ives & More

There are many beautiful spa hotels in Cornwall to choose from, but here I’m sharing my (personal) top picks!

Cornwall isn’t just a great destination for seaside family holidays – it’s also the perfect luxury retreat for romantic getaways or sumptuous spa weekends if you choose the right place! We’re spoilt for choice, and so I wanted to share my favourites, alongside a few other recommendations too…

The Scarlet – Spa Hotel in Mawgan Porth, Newquay

Best for: Adults-only peacefulness & stunning natural outdoor pool

I’m very lucky to have visited The Scarlet a couple of times – most recently for a surprise stay after Alex proposed to me last year 🥰 – so it definitely has a special place in my heart!

This adults only hotel, perched on the cliffs at Mawgan Porth, is most well known for its stunning indoor/outdoor spa experience. It features a relaxing indoor pool with large glass windows, sauna, steam room and beautiful relaxation room, plus a stunning natural outdoor pool, wood-fired hot tubs and barrel sauce all overlooking the beach.

You can easily spend a whole day at The Scarlet, even if you’re not a guest at the hotel, and their treatments are amazing too.

Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa in Newquay

Best for: Laid-back luxury rooms, amazing service, GAIA spa treatments & the best fine dining restaurant!

While their actual spa area/facilities are a lot smaller than the others I’ve mentioned, the treatments at Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa are just as incredible. They’re partnered with GAIA spa at Boringdon, using all their products & techniques, and the massage I had here was one of the best I’ve everrrr experienced.

But the real magic here is with the VIP service they offer here – known for their ‘laid back luxury’ approach. We stayed in one of their ‘Best’ Rooms, which looks over Fistral beach with a gorgeous balcony and even a view from the bathtub, and it was amazing.

The food at Fistral’s Dune restaurant is also where it truly excels! We tried their tasting menu during our stay and it was absolutely fantastic, and much better value for money than other tasting menus we’ve tried before too. Again, the service was so good here too.

Bedruthan Hotel & Spa in Mawgan Porth Newquay

Best for: Their unique spa garden, more family friendly, and a ‘resort’ feel

I believe Bedruthan is the biggest on this list and it definitely has more of a ‘resort’ feel, with lots of things to do and activities going on for all ages and so many different areas to explore. This is the family-friendly sister hotel of The Scarlet (located just next door), and offers similar treatments in their spa that are of equal, amazing quality!

As well as their classic indoor spa facilities such as pool, sauna, steam room and relaxation rooms, I really love their unique ‘Spa Garden’ experience too, which is a must-try whether you’re a guest or looking for a spa day in Cornwall, as it’s really different to anything else we’ve tried!

The Headland Hotel in Newquay

The Headland Hotel had a HUGE renovation a couple of years ago, adding a thermal spa and ‘aqua club’ to their historic hotel on the cliffs. It looks amazing, has been rated one of the top 10 World’s best hotel pools, and offers a large variety of treatments including Rhassoul mud and hydrotherapy.
