It’s 1 Year Since We Got a French Bulldog
Pepper is now 14 months old, meaning we introduced her to our home 12 months ago.
Tomorrow marks us owning a dog for 1 whole year (neither of us had a dog before we got her). What fun.
It has been nothing like what we expected, and it certainly hasn’t been easy (lowlights include Pepper breaking her leg, and having a stroke in her spine). But she’s the happiest little dog and we love her to bits (probably too much!).
Here’s a little bit we’ve learned about her throughout her puppyhood:
1 | She is the craziest, most energetic Frenchie you’ve seen yet.
I have now been to enough Frenchie Meetups to know this to be true. I like to call her my French Bulldozer.
2 | She is smart, but stubborn as Hell.
She’s been to puppy obedience training and knows all the stuff, but will only do it if she wants to do it. She will not come when I call her, so we rarely let her off lead. And she will sass us if she wants attention.
3 | Nothing phases her.
When she broke her leg she tried to use it again the day after her operation, which was a pain in the ass for us (trying to stop a 5 month old puppy from leaping around is hard). Also the stroke? Not fussed. Fireworks? Not bothered. Attacked by another dog? Meh, 5 minutes later it’s like it never happened.
She also sleeps late into the morning, which is amazing.
4 | She has taken up all the storage on my phone.
Just hundreds of photos like this one. Also all my Facebook friends probably hate me by now (if they haven’t blocked my updates already).
5 | She can make anyone laugh, any time.
French Bulldogs are known for being clown dogs, and she certainly lives up to that name. Her facial expressions are just brilliant sometimes.

She’s gorgeous!!! Now we have our own house we really want a pet but can’t decide between a cat or a dog!

I guess it’s about the amount of effort you want to put in. With cats, you put in less effort and you get less out (less affectionate and they ‘need’ you less), with dogs, you put in a LOT of effort (and money!) but you get a LOT out.

Yeeeeesssssss! :) Well we could potentially meet somewhere along the south coast that’s kinda between Plymouth and Truro, doesn’t necessarily mean we have to meet in the middle, but it would save me coming all the way down! Even somewhere nice around St Austell could work! I had no idea she has a dog?! xxx

Haha thank you Sarah! And yeah, it really is becoming a serious problem. I’ve discovered a work around though! Get the Dropbox app on your phone and create a folder just for dog pics, then when you need more storage, add all your dog photos to your Dropbox folder and delete them from your phone (and then re-download them from Dropbox onto your phone later when you miss said photos…) x
Hahaha that’s perfect! And THEN the pictures are all organized so when I want to whip out the puppy at a party (which happens often) I’ll have them all really organized and accessible. BRILLIANT! haha xx
Those ears!! They are huge! (not in a bad way! They are really freaking adorable!) the before and after photos make them look really awesomely huge!
Haha fun fact: When they are puppies they have floppy ears, and gradually (around 6 weeks) their ears suddenly ‘pop up’! We were a little worried for a while because hers didn’t pop up until ages after her brothers and sisters, but when they did it turned out that they were the biggest in the whole litter! :) x
