Being ‘You’, Eco Fashion & GoPro Love (Friday Faves #23)
I debated on whether to publish this post this week, but I think taking stock of the small positives in life can only be a good thing at this time.
Manchester is a beautiful city and I am shocked like the rest of us; regardless of how far away it may seem from here in Cornwall, it still feels close to home. I don’t have any words other than that, so I won’t attempt to write more on the topic.
It’s been over a month I believe since my last Friday Faves, and boy what a month it’s been! Between jetting off for an incredible week in Montenegro, and heading up to Oxford for my friend’s vintage themed hen party, it’s been a busy one! And there’s only more to come in the following few weeks too…
1. Ways to be More ‘You’
I really enjoyed this article on ‘7 ways to be more you’ from Courtney at Be More With Less; sometimes it’s easy to let your soul be drowned out by a busy life or other peoples’ expectations, and I love how Courtney suggests grounding yourself and ‘getting back to you‘ with her simple ideas.
2. A celebration of vegans in Cornwall!
This Earth Day (22nd April, if you didn’t know!), the Eco Park near Porthtowan held a celebration of all things vegan, with craft stalls and food vans (including the delicious Vood bar!). Sadly we got there too late and all the food had gone, but I love the fact that so many people attended!

3. ‘Big Magic’* by Elizabeth Gilbert
I saw everyone talking about this book a few months ago and thought I’d give it ago (if not only for the pretty front cover… I know, I’m so freaking basic). I wasn’t expecting much from it – in all honesty I thought it would be a bit ‘woo-woo’ for my realist brain, but I actually LOVED it. It’s given me a whole new perspective on creativity and I’d totally recommend it! My fave quote:
“You’re not required to save the world with your creativity. Your art not only doesn’t have to be original, in other words, it also doesn’t have to be important. For example, whenever anyone tells me that they want to write a book in order to help other people I always think ‘Oh, please don’t. Please don’t try to help me.’ I mean it’s very kind of you to help people, but please don’t make it your sole creative motive because we will feel the weight of your heavy intention, and it will put a strain upon our souls.”

4. All about sustainable fashion
I love the quote (above) about ‘eco fashion’; I’m guilty of calling it stuff like that, but only because I don’t think we are at a place yet where we can take the sustainability of our products for granted. But yes, it’s totally just common sense, and the Conscious Collective have shared some useful links and guides in their recent post.
5. St. Ives via GoPro
Absolutely loved this video from biscuitsalive on YouTube of various GoPro footage of the beautiful St. Ives; I think it’s captured it perfectly! No words needed for this stunning place.
What’s been the highlight of your month?
