Jewellery Making in the Sun with Kernowcraft

During mine and Olivia’s trip to Ibiza last week, we had plenty of time to chill in the sun.

But other than just reading books and working on my tan, I thought it would be fun to get creative while we lounged in the sun. So I brought along a couple of ‘make the look’ jewellery kits from Kernowcraft!

Based by the sea in Perranporth, Kernowcraft are a jewellery makers and supplier with a community of creatives at the helm! They sell everything you could ever need to create your own jewellery, such as gemstones, beads and a range of findings as well. I love browsing through their website looking at all the gorgeous stones and briolettes!

They also sell jewellery making kits and ‘make the look’ packs, so you can create your own jewels without any experience whatsoever. I actually used to make my own jewellery myself and sell it on Etsy, so luckily I had some tools and knowledge under my belt, but it really wasn’t needed because they have simple step-by-step instructions and video tutorials on their website anyway.

We were staying at Olivia’s godmother’s house in Ibiza, which is possible the most beautiful house I’ve ever stayed in! There were so many awesome chill out/lounge areas all around the gardens and by the pool, so we were spoilt for choice to sit and chill making jewels and reading our books.

I first made this gorgeous aqua blue briolette necklace, which was quick and simple, and I love how delicate and minimal it looked once finished. I also made a pair of silver sand dollar earrings too.

Whether you’re based in Cornwall or further afield, I’d recommend checking out the Kernowcraft website to get inspired for getting creative with making some jewellery yourself. They also have loads of great blog posts of meeting the makers of local artisans, as well as jewellery making resources too.

Would you enjoy making your own jewellery?

  1. I love how this piece captures the creative atmosphere of making jewelry in such a relaxed, inspiring setting. There’s something special about crafting pieces by hand, especially when you’re surrounded by nature and good energy. It really shows how much personality and meaning can go into even the smallest accessories. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy exploring collections like Casual Carats—they reflect that same sense of simplicity, elegance, and individuality. Thoughtfully designed jewelry can carry a story, and it’s always exciting to see how creativity shapes something you can wear every day.

  2. This sounds like such a fun way to spend time in the sun while doing something creative. I especially like the idea of jewellery-making kits for beginners, as they make it easier to experiment with different stones and designs without needing much experience. For anyone who enjoys discovering unique jewellery styles or wants some inspiration beyond DIY projects, I’d also recommend checking out handmade jewellery in uk. They have some lovely jewellery pieces that could be worth exploring if you appreciate distinctive designs and quality craftsmanship.
