Cornish Coast Walks & Wintry Beach Days
Autumn/Winter sun is a rare & wonderful thing, so when it strikes, you gotta grab it!
Last Friday I had some spare time off work, and was feeling like I needed to get out of the house after a couple of emotional rollercoaster days inside!

One of the best things about where we live now is how close it is to the stunning National Trust Portreath to Godrevy Heritage coastline – one of my faves – so we headed up there for a lunchtime walk.
I have to put my hands up and admit that we didn’t walk the whole way from Portreath to Gwithian in one lunchtime. That would have been pretty impressive, but alas we had limited time, so went for a quick stroll on the coastline around Tehidy, and then drove along the coast road (a beautiful drive, by the way!) to the towans next to Gwithian.

I feel like I’m always posting about this piece of coastline, but to be fair, it is breathtaking.
Dressed up in warm and snuggly Autumnal jumpers, thick socks and walking boots (mine are from JD Williams and are super comfy for long hikes!), we marched along in the still September air.

For long (or even short!) walks, backpacks are my favourite way to transport camera stuff, water, and of course, snacks! Otherwise you might wind up feeling kinda lopsided at the end of the day…
The sea was a spectacular turquoise colour on this particular afternoon, and I went a bit crazy taking all the photos, so soz (but also not soz) about all these!

^ I feel like this jumper is the perfect demonstration of how to transition black and white stripes (everyone’s fave, am I right?) into Autumn/Winter.
I’ve seen a few ‘fashion-y’ people wearing thicker stripes now, so I feel like I’m right in there with this trend. Well done, Anna, well done.
After our quick stroll, we packed up our things and drove to Gwithian towans, where we stopped in at Sunset Surf cafe for a cuppa.
This was my first time visiting this cute little beach cafe nestled amongst the dunes. We needed somewhere with wifi so we could get on with some work before we headed home, so it provided the perfect rest spot for us!

I know I know, what am I doing? Ice-cream in October, really?
Whilst N enjoyed a piping hot mocha, I was still feeling in a summery mood, thanks to all the sun and warmth pouring in through cafe windows, so I went for a coffee milkshake with mocha ice-cream.
Don’t lie, you know you would’ve done the same ;)
Plus to be fair it was still September at this point. Just.

I think this may become our new ‘spot’ for afternoon working; something we like to do every now and then to get us both out of the house for a bit. It’s also dog friendly, so the perfect place to pop in with the pooch at the weekends too!
You can’t really compete with that view for inspiring you along in life, can you?
Had the tide been out a little further, and time been a little less ‘of the essence’, we might have squeezed in a quick walk along the beach. But luckily we didn’t miss out because the very next day we were back, with Pepper in tow, for a run along Gwithians stretch of golden sands (yay for no more dog beach bans!!).
Where are your favourite walks in the Autumn?
