Weekend Friends
This weekend, my friend Kelly travelled 6 hours to come and stay with me in Cornwall!
It can be pretty isolated here in Cornland, which is a pain as it means most of my friends are at least 4 hours away, making it difficult to see them regularly.
It feels like an honour when someone is willing to do that hideous 6 hour, £70 trip from London just to see me! I’m incredibly grateful.
On Saturday we headed to Gyllingvase beach in Falmouth (a personal favourite of mine), with Pepper. Unfortunately, the weather was pretty grey, but at least it wasn’t raining!
We did the quick walk over to Swanpool beach as well, meeting lots of other dogs and people along the way. It seemed like the day to take your dog to the beach!
Pepper always seems to attract a small fan-club wherever we go, and at one point when I’d gone to find a bin to put Pepper’s you-know-what in, an elderly couple approached Kelly and asked if they could steal Pepper!
Sunday seemed a bit sunnier, so I decided to take Kelly (and Pepper) to Marazion near Penzance, so that she could see St. Michael’s Mount.
As we drove into the car park, I was amazed at how many kite surfers there were. This should have been our first clue, as we were almost blown away when we got out the car. The wind was insane!
Neither Kelly or Pepper seemed phased by the wind, so we went for a run around before heading to Hayle to pick up some Philps Pasties and bringing them back to the house for Nath (who had been inside painting the conservatory).
Even though the weather wasn’t perfect, I’m glad it wasn’t too rainy so that I could show Kelly the best bits of Cornwall. I can’t wait until summer when we can actually go out kayaking or spend a day a the beach.

Pepper is absolutely gorgeous – makes me want a dog! Don’t know how I would cope with the dog walking though when the Cornish winter weather kicks in, must be a nightmare!
I’m counting the days down until Summer now and am actually currently contemplating whether this weekend’s temperature spike means that it’s warm enough for me to wear some shorts. I miss the days of just being able to wear a vest and shorts and not worry about taking a jacket. Fingers crossed for a heatwave!

Awh haha she is a little monster! We have had her all through this Winter but to be honest the weather has been the best in years haha so plenty of sunny days to take her out.
Has been so mild today it’s been lovely! We have been chilling in the garden, doing some painting in the conservatory, and taken Pepper to Tehidy woods! Hope it’s nice again tomorrow and you’ve had a nice Saturday! x
Looks fab! Would love to visit Cornwall with the OH and the dogs for a holiday -maybe this year we will get round to it and get a little cottage somewhere! :)
Aww that would be lovely! There are some amazing luxury lodges near me called the Gwel an Mor resort – they’re on the cliffs looking over the sea at Portreath. I’m not sure how much they are but have seen photos and they’re gorgeous! X
Ahh another great post for me – My Nan lived in Falmouth and we used to own the shop ‘Cobble Corner’ in Marazion which is right next to the pasty shop there where the gwelva is, by the beach.
Oh wow that’s awesome! What did Cobble Corner sell? I always used to go to Marazion in the summer when the fairground was there next to the playground haha x
It was a convenience store, but my Dad expanded it so that it was a gift shop in the cellar. I think the new owners don’t use it as a gift shop though – or they didn’t when I was last there. It is right there opposite the Cutty Sark. My friend’s parents used to manage the Godolphin Arms too, but I don’t think they are there either. We used to go to that funfair as children too! And the playground. That was more at the other end of the beach to where our shop was though.
