In true West Country fashion, we jollied over to the Cider Festival this weekend!
Just a few miles down the road from us resides the award winning Healey’s Cyder Farm; home to infamous Cornish Rattler cider, and Cornwall’s only distillery. You can’t get more quintessentially Cornish than this place!
Each year they host the Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival as a celebration of apples, tipsy-ness and all things Autumn. The perfect activity for N’s birthday weekend if you ask me.
The festival lasts all weekend, but having been on a bit of a disastrous camping trip just the weekend before, we decided to give that part a miss, and popped along on the Saturday for some delicious street food lunch and music.
It seemed as though the sun came out just for us, and we were blessed with blue skies and t shirt temperatures all day!
The festival ended up being completely sold out this year, which is awesome, and it was great to see how many families and local people had come out to enjoy some classic Cornish festivities for the weekend. There was apple bobbing, yoga sessions, circus training, comedy and pig-racing, as well as bands throughout the day and a silent disco too.
^ Side note: we watched Daisy Clark’s whole set and I absolutely fell in love with her voice! She’s seriously talented so go check out her YouTube channel, kay?
The whole place was also decorated beautifully, and with fun characters walking around and fancy dress encouraged, it all gave off a magical ‘down-the-rabbit-hole’ vibe which I love!
We were also able to go and explore Healey’s farm and go on a tractor tour of the orchards, included in the festival ticket. It had been years since I’ve walked around the barns there, so it was great to have an explore for a moment a peace.
^ Perfect apple gathering season too!
It was great to nosey around the farm and peek into the shop their too. They sell all sorts of alcoholic treats, as well as delicious apple juices, jams and preserves, and other Cornish produce.
We didn’t stay too long into the evening, but if we had we would have had the chance to see Reef live, which would have been awesome!
Overall the festival was a huge success and I’m so glad they were all blessed with good weather after the first night as it made everything come to life around the event. Looking forward to next year already!
Yummy! This is one of the most Cornish posts I have ever seen :p
